Glittering disco ball vases, a chic inner-city venue, and a love that’s equal parts playful and heartfelt? Welcome to Isabelle and Andrew’s dazzling wedding celebration! Sparkly touches and custom DIY details are just the cherry on top of their fun day. Every element reflected their flair for the spectacular, all captured beautifully by Brandon from Why So Generic.

Isabelle and Andrew met like many modern love stories – through the magic of Tinder! “A few swipes and witty messages later, we found ourselves inseparable. It just goes to show, sometimes you really can find love online!”

If there was one thing Andrew wasn’t shy about, it was his intention to spend the rest of his life with Isabelle. “He asked my parents for their blessing in January 2023, which meant a lot to me. He wasn’t shy about asking what kind of engagement ring I liked, either, which I also appreciated. He worked with a friend to design the ring, with a little creative input from me. He proposed in July by casually asking if I wanted to “see the product,” right after we landed from a long-haul flight from Canada. I definitely wasn’t expecting it, especially since I was in travel clothes and nowhere near proposal-ready!”

Both Andrew and Isabelle were blessed to have three close friends each in their wedding parties to celebrate their sparkly wedding. “My bridesmaids were free to choose any dress they loved from Bec and Bridge, which made for a stylish and relaxed look. The groomsmen had custom suits made in Thailand, and they looked incredible,” Isabelle shared.

Andrew wore a custom suit made by a tailor in Kyoto, crafted from a stunning, textured green fabric. “He and his friends even went back to Japan to collect it. He paired it with brown loafers and sported a very tasteful mullet, which felt perfectly on-brand for him,” explained Isabelle.

Brandon from Why So Generic captured each sparkly detail from their disco wedding in his signature candid style. “Brandon was phenomenal. Calm, creative, and so good at capturing the real moments without ever feeling intrusive. He made us feel completely at ease, and the photos are everything we hoped for!”

For Isabelle, the three things she wanted in her outfit were: short, chic and unexpected. “When I saw Christie Nicole’s designs, I knew I’d found the one. I actually bought the dress without trying it on, since I was in Melbourne and the studio was in Sydney. Thankfully, it fit like a dream with just a few tweaks. My amazing mother-in-law worked her magic with the alterations. The final look was everything I hoped for. And of course, the real showstopper was saying “I do” in my Jimmy Choo’s!”

The original venue, which Isabelle and Andrew had picked out, had unforeseen construction around the time of their wedding. The wonderful Glasshaus team generously upgraded their celebrations to the beautiful Glasshaus Brücke! “The inner-city gem turned out to be the perfect setting: intimate, stylish, and effortlessly chic!”

She walked down the stunning zebra print aisle as a classical rendition of ABBA’s iconic “Dancing Queen” floated through the air, setting the perfect tone – playful yet still elegant.

Another special touch was the inclusion of cannoli. “We married on Andrew’s Nonna’s birthday, and honoured her memory during the ceremony. To celebrate her, we served cannoli, her favourite treat, which added a deeply personal touch.”

From their charming “The Chooks” sign to the disco floral holders and custom wedding merch, Isabelle and Andrew dove headfirst into the world of wedding DIY! “The standout was a stunningly long veil, lovingly designed and crafted by my mother-in-law. We also had a friend and Andrew’s uncle spin tunes as our wedding DJs.”

Led by the lovely Celebrant Kate, the ceremony was a short and heartfelt 15 minutes. There was one line from their vow that really stuck with both Isabelle and Andrew, and that was: “And as one of our favourite TV series, Workaholics, wisely reminds us – ‘Friendship. Power. Perseverance.’ These words made us laugh, but they also reflect our journey. With you, life is wonderfully weird, full of love, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The five things that made their sparkly disco wedding so special included:

“1. Marrying my favourite person in the world.

2. Having a talented photographer who captured every intimate moment.

3. Our disco-themed celebration inspired guests to dress to the nines.

4. Welcoming friends and family who travelled far and wide to be with us.

5. The exceptional venue and vendors who brought our vision to life.”

Wanting to include and entertain their younger guests, Isabelle and Andrew armed them with disposable cameras and custom-made Jellycat bunnies.

Isabelle’s stunning bridal bouquet was designed by the talented XFLOS team from Collingwood. “Honestly, every vendor brought their best and played a part in making the day so special. From the florals to the food, we couldn’t have asked for a better team to bring our vision to life,” Isabelle shared.

“For the bridesmaids’ bouquets and table arrangements, we sourced fresh blooms from Queen Victoria Market and enjoyed a heartfelt DIY session with friends and family the night before. Truly an unforgettable bonding experience!”

The final piece of advice Andrew and Isabelle want to leave for future couples is this: “Most importantly, have fun! It’s your day – embrace every moment, celebrate your love, and make it truly yours.”

Congratulations to the newlyweds on a day full of sparkle, laughter, and unforgettable memories – and a special thanks to Brandon for capturing it all with ease and that signature candid touch.
