From a chance meeting on a camping trip to a sunset-soaked celebration at Zonzo Estate, Scarlett and Riley’s wedding was all about joy, colour, and doing things their way! Captured beautifully by Alex from Colcheedas Photography, their day was pure sunshine – with a whole lot of Zoncello.
It was a camping trip that brought Scarlett and Riley together for the first time. “We were both 18 and going away camping with a group of friends, not knowing the other half of the people in attendance! We had an instant bond and have been together for over 10 years now!”
When it was time for this duo to take their relationship to the next level, Riley surprised Scarlett with a beach trip. He took her to a beautiful winery where they had a private picnic with three courses of delicious food. And when all the food had been devoured, and they were sitting in their post-meal bliss, he got down on one knee. “It was the second best day of our life (second to the wedding day).”
Riley wore a modern suit from Menz Mode in a classic charcoal grey pattern. “He wanted to not be in all black but something a bit different. He looked amazing!”
Scarlett chose a beautiful Made With Love gown, with a stunning halter design and open back. “It was plain, but still unique. I knew I would never regret the decision. I hadn’t seen anyone else wear the dress before!”
There were a few traditions that Riley and Scarlett threw out of the window, choosing to get ready together the morning of. “We had 16 of our fav people stay at an Airbnb the night before and woke up and got ready for the day,” Scarlett explained.
“Riley then left to go to our first look, and then I got in my dress and met him there. We also omitted bonbonnieres and decided to do a raffle at the reception; it was genuinely a highlight.”
Zonzo Estate was the venue of choice for this sunshine-infused wedding, with Riley and Scarlett planning their styling and colours around the iconic Zoncello. “Zonzo was a no-brainer for us. We didn’t think we wanted the traditional wedding venue until we went here and did a tour. The venue is stunning, the food was amazing, and there was so much of it, and who can resist their Zoncello!”
All of these beautiful, vibrant florals were created by Flowers By Megan. “We fully trusted her with the process, and she nailed it. We wanted colourful flowers and they were an absolute VIBE!!”
Wanting to be super present after the ceremony, Scarlett and Riley opted to do all of their portraits pre-ceremony. “I think that we did everything for us and the way we wanted. Being apart the night before and day of was never the plan for us, and we wanted to be present.”
Scarlett walked down the aisle with her dad, as Your Girl Sidney performed a beautiful mix of “Stand By Me” and “Truly Madly Deeply”.
Led by their celebrant, Melebrate, their ceremony was upbeat, full of humour and a fear (happy) fears! “We wanted people to be smiling, laughing, and for it to not go on for too long.”
The five things that made this sunshine-infused day even better were:
“1. Spending the wedding eve together,
2. Having our family a part of the day,
3. Having friends and family travel all over the world to be there,
4. Getting to marry my best friend,
5. Turning it into a huge party with an epic dance floor.”
For Scarlett and Riley, the secret to a dream wedding lies in enjoying every chapter, not just the big day. “Make sure you enjoy every part of the process. I see so many couples stressing and fighting over things, which is so sad to me. It is the best day of your life, so make it the best chapter!!”
Their photographer for the day was the ever-talented Alex from Colcheedas Photography! “Alex was the BEST. I cannot tell you how many people complimented him and the way he went about the day. He made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. We didn’t want to feel artificial, and he made sure of that,” Scarlett shared.
“We had an absolute ripper sunset as well. Honestly, everything Alex did was amazing.”
Their first dance was to an acoustic version of “Two Strong Hearts”, as guests watched from the sides of the alfresco dance floor.
Thanks to Colcheedas Photography for sharing these moments with us, and congratulations to Scarlett and Riley!
