There was something effortless and joy-filled about Jay and Daisy’s celebration at Solitaire Homestead: a day that unfolded with breathtaking emotions and genuine connections. With rolling bushland, thoughtful details and a relaxed, country-meets-classic style, their wedding was a beautiful extension of who they are. Nic from Place of Love documented every dreamy detail while Pineapple Fingers captured the moving moments in between.
Jay and Daisy met five and a half years ago at F45, where their shared love of fitness – and a healthy dose of competition – brought them together. “The two of us constantly battling it out to see who could do the fastest burpees,” she shared. After class, Daisy would head to the local café for a well-deserved coffee, and one day Jay tagged along and they’ve been together ever since.
On her birthday weekend, Daisy and Jay were preparing to welcome her mum and friend Penny, who were visiting from Adelaide. Jay had suggested a walk to the park with their pups, Milo and Wilbur. “Walking them down at the park has always been our most favourite shared pastime,” Daisy explained.
“Halfway through our way, Jay stopped us at a beautiful huge gum tree and proceeded to get down on one knee and propose to me with a stunning Pink Sapphire engagement ring (that he had designed!). I cannot remember what he said, it was all such a blur and I was bawling my eyes out, but I know I managed to get out the word YES!!!.”
Moments later, her mum and Penny arrived with champagne in hand – part of the plan all along. That night, Jay had one more surprise: all her loved ones gathered at their favourite bar, expecting a birthday party… and getting an engagement celebration instead!
When Jay and Daisy were planning his wedding outfit, they knew two things for sure – he would be wearing his R.M. Williams boots and there would definitely be some form of green! “We were having a browse in Myer one day and found this gorgeous sage green Hechter Paris. Immediately, we knew it would be the wedding jacket, and we then moulded the rest of the outfit around it,” Daisy explained. “The pants and shirt (as well as the Groomsmen) were all sourced from Peter Jackson. We love the slight country feel to the outfit, while still looking very classy.”
Daisy’s beauty team included the talented Bridget from SOMA Makeup Artist, and her mother-in-law to do her hair. “It was a very special moment between the two of us. Sue is a hairdresser by trade and used to specialise in Bridal hair, so it was an honour to have her complete my bridal look.”
She wore this absolutely dreamy RTW gown designed by JRW Bridal, with a fitted silhouette that is only enhanced by the overskirt. “I found the dress at Bridal by Aubrey Rose and can honestly say I had THE BEST experience with their team. When I came in looking, they treated us like family members and gave us what we felt a bridal experience should have – bubbles, photos, and laughs. The lot. I found the dress and knew she was the one. Classic and chic – but I did want a little bit extra. An overskirt. That’s when the girls at BAR told me that I could meet with Jo, the owner/designer of JRW Bridal, to have this custom-made,” she shared. “A few weeks later, I met with Jo and she made my magical overskirt dreams come true. I had the classic bridal look, with a touch of drama for the ceremony. Once the party started, I could take off the overskirt and feel like I could hit the dance floor with no dress worries.”
Her wedding party was made up of three of her best friends, and her other two bridesmaids were Jay’s sisters. The girls were dressed in beautiful Billy J Boutique dresses in the same mushroom colour. “The girls wore dresses of all different styles from Billy J, which they got to choose. I wanted to make sure they felt their best selves in what they wore. The only condition was the colour.”
Their home base for this joy-filled wedding was the beautiful Solitaire Homestead nestled in sunny Dunsborough, WA. “A gorgeous property with acres and acres of bushland. We were drawn to the homely farm feel that it had. We had multiple ceremony site options and absolutely loved the big lawn and shed for the reception.”
Daisy walked down the aisle with her father to an acoustic rendition of “To Build A Home” by The Cinematic Orchestra, performed live by Adrian Wilson. This moment is actually when her favourite photo was captured – Jay’s face as he watches Daisy walk towards him. “He just looks so happy (and handsome), and you can see the love in his eyes, and if you look closely, you also see my brother behind him crying his eyes out, which equally makes me laugh. So much love in one photo from two very special men in my life.”
Working with Nat from Daisy and Clover Florals, Daisy watched her flower dreams come true! “Wow, the flowers. I am still at a loss for words. I knew the colour palette I wanted: five bright and beautiful choices, and I knew I wanted that wild, whimsical bouquet feel. That is the brief I gave Nat and then gave her full creative control. She took it and nailed it. When Nat walked in to drop them off for us, we all screamed – we were in awe,” Daisy gushed.
“Then there is the DOOR! Again, I sent Nat a photo of the door we were getting married in front of and let her do whatever she wanted – and wow, she created the most AMAZING floral arrangement. Walking down the aisle to that: how special. I will never in my life get over how amazing the flowers were.”
Their ceremony was super simple and focused solely on love. Jay and Daisy had the incredible privilege of having their friend Mandi as their celebrant! “Jay and I wrote our own vows and both of us barely kept it together as we spoke them. My favourite part was surprising our two witnesses. We each wrote a little speech about each person for Mandi to read out, announcing their name at the end. I chose my mum’s best friend, Penny, who has been like a second mum to me my entire life. She was shocked, delighted and teary, and I know it’s a moment she will remember forever. Jay chose his Dad, the one he looks up to the most. Again, his dad was shocked and honoured. Great moments.”
Recommended by a friend, Nic from Place of Love instantly felt like the perfect fit for Daisy and Jay. From the first message, Nic’s warmth, enthusiasm, and professionalism shone through, making the entire process seamless from start to finish. Despite living three hours apart, Daisy and Jay had the chance to meet Nic at their venue a month before the wedding, and the spontaneous visit turned into an impromptu mini shoot, helping them feel at ease in front of the camera. On the day itself, Nic’s energy was nothing short of infectious.
“What a woman. What a photographer. We wanted relaxed, dreamy, happy vibes for our photos, and that’s exactly what she delivered. You can tell she absolutely loves what she does and is born to do it. I absolutely love how she makes the effort to really get to know her couples before shooting them. From vendor to friend. Very special indeed,” Daisy shared.
Every wedding has its own kind of magic: the quiet moments, the big surprises, and the deeply personal touches that turn a celebration into something truly unforgettable. For Jay and Daisy, it was the little things woven with meaning that left the biggest mark, including:
“1. Our Mum’s walking down the aisle and making speeches together,
2. Friends and family visiting from all over the country,
3. Surprising our witnesses,
4. Mandi doing her celebrant course to marry us,
5. Including our dogs when they couldn’t physically be there.”
After planning their dreamy joy-filled wedding, Jay and Daisy walked away with some golden advice – the kind that only comes from living it: “Stick to what you want and love. Trust your gut. Recommendations are your best friend and if you hate making decisions, definitely get a wedding planner. MAKE sure you EAT on the wedding day.”
Solitaire Homestead supplied all the furniture, glassware, accessories, lawn games, and much more. Daisy and Jay couldn’t have been more appreciative of this service, as it took out so much of the stress while they were planning. “Kelly, the owner and her team were an absolute dream to work with and made our experience magical. They also work as event coordinators on the day to help it run as smoothly as possible, and no task is ever too big for them. They are also a BYO venue, so we supplied all the alcohol and could choose any food vendor we wanted – very cost efficient!”
In an effort to make their mums feel special and appreciated on the day, Daisy and Jay asked their mums to take over the usual father speech at the reception. “It’s normally the dads who speak, but we chose our mums to make the speeches for our day. Very sweetly, they decided to make theirs a joint speech, which really hit us with emotion.”
Since their dogs couldn’t be there to celebrate their dreamy wedding, they instead created over 100 cutouts of their faces for guests to use during their reception games.
To finish out the night, Jay and Daisy had their first dance to “I’ll Always Remember Us This Way” by Lady Gaga from A Star Is Born. “We both love love love this movie. Jay never cries, but tells me this movie gives him ‘hay fever’ every time he watches it. It gets us both in the feels. So we thought it would be very fitting to pick a song from this movie,” Daisy explained.
“My bestie, Steph, is a ballroom dancer. So we had a session with her to get our moves sorted. She gave us some simple steps as well as some lifts and dips to whip out. We felt very professional!”
To Jay and Daisy – thank you for sharing your joy with us, and to Place of Love for documenting it so perfectly.
