Basking in the love flowing from their guests and backdropped by the rolling hills of a beautiful farm, today’s country wedding is a sight to behold! Jordie and Ethne put their heart and soul into their relaxed country wedding and filled it with beautiful nods to love past, present and future! Each and every moment was artfully captured by Essjay Photography – and we’re honoured to share it with you now.

Jordie and Ethne’s story is that of many modern couples – where one swipe changed their lives! “We met on the dating app Bumble; the rest was history.”

Let us set the scene on the proposal… soft early morning light flooded the beach as Ethne and Jordie, as the couple were about to enjoy a morning swim. “I bet him he wouldn’t go for an early morning swim, so he dragged me out of bed to “witness” him getting in, but then he pulled out the ring instead. It was a definite YES!” Jordie shared.

Ethne opted for a more relaxed look; as a country boy, a suit / black tie attire isn’t his or the wedding vibe. “We settled on boots, a bow tie and an awesome pink linen jacket from Blowes Clothing.”

His wedding party wore similar attire also from Blowes Clothing but with neutral-toned linen jackets instead of his pink.

Jordie went for a more modern take on the classic lace wedding dress. Her goal was to find something fitted – classic with a twist. She found this stunning low-back gown from Angelic Inspirations with intricate lace detailing. “My experience had highs and lows but the right shop and assistant can make all the difference when dress shopping,” she shared.

Two pieces of Jordie’s outfit were heirloom pieces – her veil was passed down from her mum, and the charm on her bouquet was passed down from Ethne’s father’s side.

Her wedding party wore a soft blue palette, with dresses picked out by each bridesmaid to suit their own style. “Having such different shapes looked great. Not every dress looks good on everybody, and I wanted them to be comfortable.”

Their venue of choice for the day was a family friend’s farm called At Amaroo Road, in central west NSW. It was the perfect rustic space for their relaxed, country wedding.

Jordie walked down the aisle with her father, as Garth Brooks’ “She Every Woman” played in the background. All Ethne could think about at that moment was this: “How beautiful she is – my wife.”

Their relaxed ceremony was a little bit of fun and a little bit traditional. Their celebrant, Nat, was funny and personal and crafted the perfect ceremony! Even as the sky threatened to rain on their parade, the smiles wouldn’t leave Jordie or Ethne’s faces. “Other than Sarah, our photographer, Nat from Shillobrations, our celebrant, was amazing and helped us every step of the way.”

Even though the day passed in a blur, Jordie and Ethne were still overwhelmed by all the love pouring from their guests. “Truly heartwarming and so much fun.”

All of their flowers were bright, warm and seasonal autumn blooms. “I didn’t mind what they were, and we just worked with what was in season. I sourced flowers from two local growers in the area, and a family friend arranged them. Local, colourful, seasonal and fun!”

When asked about her favourite photo – Jordie didn’t know where to start. But if there’s one thing she knows for sure, it’s this: “Any photo where Ethne is looking at me like I am the only person in the world is my favourite.”

Sarah from Essjay Photography beautifully captured Jordie and Ethne’s country wedding. “Sarah has an automatic “I’ve known her forever” kind of personality. I was comfortable with her straight away. She understood what we were after and nailed it in every way! She was fun and got all the shots. But also so sneaky you wouldn’t have even known she was there for some of it. I couldn’t be happier with her service and how the photos all turned out.”

The five things that made this relaxed country wedding so special to Jordie and Ethne were:

“1. Friends

2. Family

3. The love

4. The laughs

5. And, of course, my Husband.”

Set up at their reception, Jordie and Ethne had a photo table filled with their loved ones who are no longer with them as a beautiful tribute to love, not only present, but also passed.

The whole set-up and decorations were DIY’d by their friends and family. Tables and chairs were hired from Bespoke Country Weddings, Catering by Bull n Smoke and the Hello Lucy Lou team ran the bar. “We only had a small wedding, so it was manageable and not stressful at all.”

Their first dance was to “Darlin” by country artist Tristan Marez. “Ethne and I have loved this song long before the wedding, and it sums us up pretty well,” Jordie explained.

For her final look of the evening, Jordie changed into a mini dress. The dress in question was her mother’s wedding gown cut up and remodelled with new life! “It was a surprise to quickly get changed during the reception and walk in without telling Mum.”

Thanks to Essjay Photography for not only capturing these beautiful photos but also for sharing them with us. Congratulations, Jordie and Ethne – we can only hope you’re proud of what you created!
