In a perfect blend of modern love and vintage charm, Ellis and Caragh’s moody engagement shoot with photographer Candid Chaser is exactly the style of photos they want to show off to their grandchildren decades from now! They chose a vintage, editorial style with a “save the date” theme. Complete with their custom-printed newspaper, their moody engagement shoot also served as their save-the-date announcement.
Ellis and Caragh first crossed paths when they were six years old, playing on the same Little League baseball team! For the next six years, they built a close friendship and camaraderie on the field, sharing laughs, wins and team spirit. It wasn’t until years later, when fate brought them back together, that their childhood bond transformed into something much more. Their love story really shows that sometimes, the person meant for you has been there all along!
The Royal George in Sydney was the perfect backdrop for the shoot, with the soft dreamy photography style. “We chose the more vintage style as we have also been drawn to that timeless classic look that gives off old-money vibes. That will impress the grandkids later!” They explained.
Ellis went all out for their romantic proposal – hiring out a whole private section of the beach during a Bali trip! “He decorated it with loads of red roses and organised a private eight-course dinner to be served after he dropped the knee on the beach,” Caragh shared.
Caragh loves how kind, thoughtful and calm Ellis is, and Ellis loves that Caragh is determined, ambitious and selfless.
Ash from Candid Chaser helped Caragh and Ellis capture their moody engagement shoot exactly how they wanted. “Our photographer, Ash, was incredibly helpful and offered us a lot of props and ideas for the shot. He was good at giving directions and making our photos turn out better than I could have ever imagined.”
One of Ellis’s most successful pickup lines to Caragh was when he promised to take her through one of his famous arm sessions. “It was his smoothest move – promising a workout to impress. But to this day, that arm session still hasn’t happened. Whether it was a clever excuse or just classic procrastination, it’s now an ongoing joke between them… and I’m still waiting on those biceps,” she shared.
Caragh and Ellis are now a year away from their wedding – may your wedding be as gorgeous and timeless as this shoot! Thanks to Candid Chaser for capturing this beautiful couple and their save-the-date shoot.
