A little bit of country, a little bit of disco, and a whole lot of love – Grace and Josh’s wedding was a celebration like no other! What started as a uni romance led to their epic country disco wedding at Grace’s family farm. Picture bright colours, flower crowns, and disco balls hanging from a rustic shed, all set to a soundtrack of rain on a tin roof. Even a last-minute ceremony change and muddy shoes couldn’t stop the party because this wedding was all about fun, flair, and feeling the love!

The way Grace tells the story of how she and Josh met is very different from how Josh describes it, but the one thing their stories have in common is that they happened on the same day. “Josh and I met on campus at Uni. I would say we initially met drunk at a party, but he says he saw me walking through the courtyard earlier that day!”

In a stunning Alena Leena Bridal gown, Grace looked timeless! She looked incredible with a strapped bodice, a whimsical train, and a modern square neckline.

Grace had six bridesmaids in her wedding party, each wearing their own version of a pink dress. “This was so fun, and collectively, everything went together so well. The colours were a highlight of our day and lifted the spirits on a torrentially rainy day.”

Josh chose a classic look for his attire: a black suit, white shirt, and a snazzy black bowtie. His wedding party also wore matching suits to complement the rustic, disco feel of the day.

The venue for this country disco wedding was Grace’s family farm, Fana Beag, which is now a wedding venue. “It is a sentimental place, as it’s the family farm full of memories and has my grandfather’s shed.”

In classic spring weather, there was torrential rain, with roads closed and muddy walkways. So they had to move their ceremony inside the shed instead of the garden wedding originally planned. Grace was in awe of the space as she stepped into the shed while INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart” played. “I was walked down the aisle by my father. It was pouring down so heavily, my dress was muddy, and I could hear the rain on the tin roof,” she explained.

“I was disappointed until I walked in through the huddled crowd, with the dark sky and the candles all lit around us to Josh standing at the end of the aisle; I could just feel everyone’s love shining on us as we said our vows. We had 140 guests (give or take a few last-minute cancellations due to flooding), but it still felt like the most intimate moment. It was intense, and our vendors said they’ve never seen anything like it.”

With Love Bespoke Styling created these beautiful mismatched bouquets, flower crowns, and the farm shed styling—how incredible are the disco balls and palm leaf ceiling?! “The flowers and styling made our day fabulous!”

Essjay Photography was the perfect photographer to capture the country disco vibes of Josh and Grace’s day! “Sarah was calm and professional and made sure everything flowed nicely.”

Despite the rain, the top four things that made their day so special were;

“1. Our loved ones,

2. Fun DJ, the dancing with everyone was so fun,

3. Photographer – ran the day effortlessly, and the photos were fun,

4. Delicious food by Eat Your Greens.”

With so many beautiful details, it’s no surprise that Grace and Josh couldn’t pick just one as their favourite. Instead, they chose four! “Good food, good music, beautiful company and the statement design with our disco vibes!”

For their first dance, Josh and Grace picked out “Groovin Slowly” by the John Butler Trio.

The parting advice Josh and Grace would like to leave for future married couples is this: “Do what you love, have what you love.”

Please join us in congratulating Grace and Josh on this incredible country disco wedding! And thanks to Essjay Photography for sharing it with us.
