Louise and Shane’s love story is one for the modern age but with all the romance of a fairy tale. At their urban disco wedding, they blended vibrant colours with sentimental details, celebrating with close friends and family, and a night of dancing under glittering disco balls. This is the story of two soulmates who turned their love into a striking celebration – all captured by the talents over at Untamed Creative.

Like many modern-day love stories, Louise and Shane met their match on Tinder!

While there are no surprises about how they met, their engagement story was full of surprises for both of them! “Shane took me on a surprise trip to Daydream Island one long weekend; I was not suspecting a thing!” Lou shared. “His plan was to propose on our day trip to White Haven beach, but the day we arrived, we went to a little place called Lovers Cove on the island to watch the sunset; Shane decided he couldn’t wait so…He told me to close my eyes, and he wrote out marry me in some corral from the sand. I was so shocked I forgot to say yes! But he knew, and I then said YES!”

Shane wore an MJ Bale suit in a lovely dark forest green paired with a native floral-inspired tie set from Peggy & Finn. This suit was actually a find of fate; he knew this suit was for him when he saw the name “The Flow Suit” – since his nickname is flow!

In his wedding party, Shane’s three groomsmen have been his best friends since they were all in school. They wore a mix of different suit colours and brands that matched the muted, colourful vibe of the day!

Louise knew when it came her to wedding dress, she wanted something fun, frilly and entirely her. “We tried many, many shops and nothing really was giving me that feeling of finding the dress. We went to the most beautiful bridal boutique called Bloom in Brisbane. It was the most amazing experience, and as soon as I put on the Newhite Gown, I felt confident and beautiful. And that what you want to feel in your wedding dress! It had the most beautiful dramatic frill at the bust, and I paired it with a beautiful, frilled veil from Harriette Gordon.”

The brief for the flowers was to be fun and colourful to match the disco vibes, and the team at Garden Graffiti in Brisbane absolutely nailed it! “I really left a lot of details of the flowers in the amazing hands of the girls – and they killed it.”

Louise had two bridesmaids and her brides-brother in her wedding party. Her bridesmaid wore a beautiful complementary pair of green and burnt orange dresses that perfectly matched the groomsman’s looks.

Now, the ceremony and reception space is where the real urban disco vision comes to life, thanks to the styling from Storybook & Co.! From the glittery disco balls to the sparkling starlight ceilings, it was the perfect space for them to tie the knot. Smoked Garage Brisbane was their venue, and from start to finish, the team was incredible. “We saw our vision from the moment we walked in the door. It was the perfect unique backdrop for all our disco balls and pink decor! Our guests were saying it’s going down as one of the best venues they have ever been to! (we second that).”

As “Yellow” by Coldplay floated through the air, sung live by the incredible Baker Boys Band, Louise and her father walked down the aisle.

Their ceremony was the perfect blend of laughter and love. Neither Louise nor Shane wanted it to be too serious or too long, and with the help of their celebrant, Kate Mackie – their wish came true! “Kate was a dream! I still chat with her to this day every so often. The most kind, funky celebrant ever to exist!”

Armed with their personal vows, there was not a dry eye in the house when it came time to share these words of devotion and love. “It was hands down my favourite moment of the day, such a special electric feeling!”

When asked about her favourite detail, Louise had two immediately come to mind and couldn’t pick between them. “I can’t choose between the ceremony or the dance floor! Both have such different vibes but hold a special spot in my memory bank.”

The main thing Shane remembers the most was just how they got to experience the best day of their lives – together. “Marrying my beautiful best friend, we had the time of our lives. I just love her so much.”

Nikki and Dani from Untamed Creative were the creative geniuses behind all of these beautiful photos. “Their vibe and aura on the day made everyone so comfortable in front of the camera and just in general. They are unreal at what they do. It honestly felt like they were just an extension of our bridal party; everyone thought they were such cool down-to-earth people!”

The top five things that made their urban disco wedding so special were:

“1. Shane my amazing Husband,

2. Feeling beautiful,

3. spending the best day of our lives with such special people around us,

4. Our personal vows,

5. Doing things for the wedding really put me out of my comfort zone and helped me build confidence, that’s stuck with me to this day.”

This beautiful reception space definitely lived up to the disco vibes of the day – and was made even better with the flavourful favours left for guests on tables! “We made up honey jars as our wedding favours filled with honey from our own bees at home. Everyone loved them (we still get asked for honey to this day)!”

With so many funny, sweet and love-filled moments from their day, Louise admits that her favourite happened as they were on their way home. “Leaving the venue, going back to the Air BNB, taking in the whole day together, getting home, being with each other giggling, crying, and just taking it all in was so so special.”

One of the most memorable moments for Shane and Louise during the reception was hearing the speech from his Grandad. “His Grandparents mean the world to us, and we feel so grateful for that moment.”

Their first dance was to “Sunflower” covered by Holy Holy, a sentimental choice as Shane has always called Louise his sunflower. How beautiful that both their nicknames were incorporated into the details of their day! “We are not dancers by any means, but we remembered a few easy steps over a few months, and it worked out great.”

Louise’s favourite photo is definitely this one of her giggling as Shane whips out a funny dance move that they made up themselves! “It had never been taken out of the privacy of our home, haha! It just sums us up perfectly, I never don’t laugh looking at it.”

Congratulations, Shane and Lou! Your urban disco wedding was a pleasure to see. And thanks to Untamed Creative for capturing and sharing.
