Friends, if we are forever known to be the website that dreams and jumps and gets excited over colour, we will take it. Every last bit of it. Especially if it means we get delivered bright wedding inspiration full of all of the disco balls and colours like today’s editorial.
And if you think the array of colours – we’re talking hot pink, aqua blue, royal purple, cherry red and all the sparkles, is bold and beautiful, wait until you meet the amazing dream team that pulled it all together.
Captured on film by Nicole Marie Photo, and stills by Shannon Smiles Photography (who also designed the concept), and planned by LG Events, the country setting of Calley View Farm House, just outside of Shellharbour was just the ticket for this dramatic setup. Shannon explains “As a warm tone, colour loving, individual with a passion for funky 70s vibes, drag, queer culture and the flamboyant. I had a vision for a colourful styled wedding shoot, which was brought to life through seeking out some of the coolest local vendors and a rad loving queer couple.”
“The concept of this shoot was to showcase what it can be like to incorporate a whole lot of colour and funk to your wedding day” explains Shannon, “To showcase, love is love, love in all forms and how you can bring your personality out on your wedding day, with pizza and cocktails and so much more.”
From the ceremony – set up in tones of saffron yellow and hot pink, with masses of blooms styled by Poppy Tess Floral Studio and with pieces from Bohemian Hilltop Events and Vintage Patina our couple “wed” in bright romantic style with celebrant Marry Me Zoe – Zoe Sabados. The newlyweds celebrating with all the confetti in canon style from The Whole Bride.
To cocktail hour – cocktails aplenty served up by Henry Clive Caravan Bar, while Steves Mobile Woodfire Pizza, filled bellies with pizza. The scene is set with bright and beautiful details (including laser-cut signage made by Bug and Bowie). Our newlyweds, models Florencia and Alana Maclean-Dowling both in classic white gowns from Illawarra Bridal & Formal, that let their curly up-do’s and bold, moody makeup styled by Ershe Hair do every bit of the talking.
To the reception a long rectangular table set for dinner catered by G & G Events Functions and Kiama Coast Catering (complete with grazing table but of course) set in front of an incredible paper streamer backdrop and under glittering disco balls. Candles, fabric runners, and bud vases alongside signage by Paper Leisure and neon paper treats by Peach Wolfe Paper Co adding all the bang this shoot needs.
And as dusk settled, a painted cake by Creamy Creations by Stacey came out for dessert, and the newlyweds made the most of their luxury, vintage transport from Sweet Rides Australia. Says Shannon “The 70s, disco balls and bright colours. The inspiration was to create a shoot that showcased personality, a little drag, flamboyance and fun. We wanted to use 70s-inspired, colourful, funky and retro vibes. Using current trends to highlight and modernise to create an untraditional, and fun-inspired wedding with a focus on good vibes and good times.”
