Jemma and Travis tied the knot at the stunning Bonfire Station venue, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and the warmth of family and friends, the couple describing their wedding as country chill. Shot beautifully by Weddings Captured by Peta, they went with the flow and kept their wedding simple and fun with an awesome party to end the day! Jemma tells us about their wedding…
We were out on our weekly firewood collection trying to prepare for winter. I was standing on top of a log taking a photo of the beautiful view when Trav said he needed to change our daughter’s nappy. The next thing I know he walked over towards me with my ring made out of breastmilk, and our daughter was holding it and Trav popped the question! Oh course I said yes!
My dress was simple but elegant. I didn’t want a fancy dress and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on one either. I knew I wouldn’t wear it again and because of the location of our wedding, I knew I could never get it “clean” enough to pass on or sell it. I found the one at Noodz Boutique.
I walked down the aisle to “This Is It” and my father and Pop (his dad) walked me down the aisle – my two biggest supporters.
Our favourite photograph from the day was us walking out of the ceremony.
I was gifted pearl earrings as something new. I was driven in an old blue golden Ute that was part of Trav’s family. It was actually Trav’s aunt’s and uncle’s car – they drove to their own wedding over 20 years ago.
Trav and his groomsmen had simple sand-coloured suits with RM Williams boots and belts.
I love flowers and I love anything native so I went simple with proteas, gum leaves, and a few other statement Australian natives from Wedding Florals by Sophie.
Our photographer Peta from Weddings Captured by Peta was AMAZZIIINNNNGGGGG! Do I need to say anymore?! She was super bubbly her skills are out of this world. She’s the best – she had a laugh and made all of us feel so comfortable.
Trav and I are not dancers nor did we know how to dance! We didn’t even attempt to get lessons or learn prior to the wedding. We winged it as that’s what we do with almost everything and it all worked out.
During the reception, we kept it very low key – just had a cake cutting and speeches. Wed DIY’d our welcome sign, cake, as well as other bits and pieces for the day.
Enjoy every moment – it goes so fast. Don’t lose time by saying looking to say goodbye to everyone – let them come to you instead.
Thanks to Jemma & Travis for sharing their beautiful day with us. And to Weddings Captured by Peta for their gorgeous images!
