As our specialty blog content for 2022 comes to an end, we are lucky enough to have not one, not two, but THREE delicious Christmas concoctions you are absolutely going to have to try over the festive season. By the cocktail-loving Jamie of Jamie + Cara – Brisbane City Celebrants, with photography by Elohim Photography & Christmas table styling by With Love, we give you our last Cocktail Friday of the year – 3 Festive Cocktails From Brisbane City Celebrants.
Spiced Ginger Spritz
The classic Aperol Spritz is well known for being an easy-to-drink refreshing cocktail. Here at Brisbane City Celebrants are such huge fans of this cocktail and often make a couple to enjoy when we return home from weddings.
Then one day, after a big day of amazing weddings, Cara started putting together this favourite only to open the fridge to find there was no sparkling water and the soda stream gas was out! Desperate to taste that refreshing flavour, Cara got creative. She quickly spotted a bottle of ginger ale chilling in the fridge. Thinking that was the closest substitute available, in it went.
Not only did it work, but it also tasted amazing and she couldn’t wait to share the new creation with Jamie who gave his nod of approval, and just like that the spiced ginger spritz was born.
With the variety of Spritz’s around, I’m sure many a ginger spritz had already been consumed prior to us stumbling across this recipe by chance, so we won’t take all the credit. But if like us you’re a fan of the classic Aperol Spritz, we recommend giving this a go.
Ingredients:
- 3 parts Sparkling Wine
- 1 part Aperol
- 1.5 parts Ginger Ale (optional sugar-free ginger ale if that’s your preference)
Method:
- Pour all in and stir, garnish with a slice of orange and a stalk of rosemary.
- Get extra festive and use a mini wooden peg to clip a gingerbread cookie to the glass.
Gingerbread Mexican Mule
Enjoyed for having the perfect combination of spicy, sweet and tasty, the classic Moscow mule is a popular choice of cocktail. With its strong ginger flavour, this cocktail makes a great choice for the festive season, so no need to divert from the original trusted recipe, simply garnish with a gingerbread cookie and your Christmas cocktails are ready to be sipped.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 parts Tequila
- 1 part freshly squeezed lime
- 3 parts ginger ale or ginger beer
Method:
- Pour all in and stir.
- Place squeezed lime halves in a copper mug to garnish along with a stalk of rosemary and peg a gingerbread cookie to the side of the mug.
Bonus points for serving this taste sensation in the traditional copper mug!
