On a balmy sunny afternoon, just as they had dreamt it, Ella and Matthew tied the knot in a classically elegant Yarrawonga wedding in a very favourite spot by the water. Making the most of their lush surroundings, they invited family and friends to glam up and dance the night away – complete with pizza and plenty of cheese! “Our whole wedding was so perfect from the event hire, flowers, wedding attire and entertainment! All of our vendors were incredible! Couldn’t fault any of them.” And one of “them”? Photographer Georgie James Photography captured every beautiful detail perfect for us to share!

The pair met in high school, but it took many years before they fell for one another, and another six before they became engaged! The proposal, however, was one for the ages, taking place in New York City! Reminisces Ella, “it was Christmas Day 2018. We had been to the Knicks game at Madison Square Garden with friends, and we went on a tour around Central Park at 10 pm when Matt popped the question!”

Matthew chose a classic black tuxedo from  Eddy Elias. “He had a really great experience and everyone was super helpful” explained Ella. “He loved his suit, every detail fit perfectly!”

Bringing to life the classic elegance look, was Ella’s beautiful gown from Kyha Studios. “I wanted it to reflect my personal style. My experience at Kyha was incredible! The girls there were so helpful and friendly.” She added her nan’s gold bracelet as her ‘something borrowed’.

The floral details on the day included flowers in hues of pink and white, says Ella who chose Studio Alyssum to create the arrangements. “I chose flowers that were classic, neutral and never go out of style! My florist did the best job at bringing my flower dream to life!”

Ella and Matthew held both their ceremony and reception by the lake at Yarrawonga Yacht Club. Says Ella “We wanted something relaxed, with a beautiful backdrop and to fit the number of people we wanted. I am originally from the area so it felt right to get married at home!”

Beside her father, Ella walked down the aisle to the Kina Grannis version of  “Can’t Help Falling in Love”.

For their ceremony “We wanted a relaxed but romantic vibe” explains Ella, the couple choosing Kate Mills to officiate. Our celebrant was so sweet and she went above and beyond to create this for us! We included some readings from the Bible and some traditional wedding/love poems/verses. My two brothers who were not a part of our wedding parties also read a verse each which was really special to us.”

“Our photographer was so accommodating and friendly” remembers Ella. “She captured our dreamy day perfectly! She was so professional and made an effort to gauge what we were after as a wedding photographer, we spent many zoom sessions organising and chatting to ensure the day ran smoothly. A good photographer is an investment!”

The one DIY detail of the day? Handmade (and personalised) cookies made by Ella’s mum which double as sweet treats and wedding favours.

“We loved our speeches!” remembers Ella. “It was so special to hear our loved ones speak.  We loved the excitement of it all. Watching the day you’ve imagined finally fall into place and meeting so many amazing people along the way.”

The first dance was a classic too! “We took dance lessons to create a two-minute dance to L-O-V-E to Nat King Cole. The whole experience was so fun and we had many laughs along the way!” This moment is also Matthew’s favourite. “We had so much fun with the lessons and I think we executed it perfectly.”

Congratulations on your marriage Ella and Mtthew! Thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us and thank you to Georgie James Photography for sharing today’s beautiful captures with us.
