We know it, we love it and today’s dreamy editorial proves it through – New Zealand has a special kind of beauty, a special kind of charm that nowhere else on the planet can quite match. And so? For The New Zealand Issue, we knew an editorial captured that every essence, was on the cards.
Enter “Under The Martinborough Sun”, a classically romantic wedding shoot that was the dream (and capture!) of photographer August & Vine. Sam, the name behind the brand, was inspired by the Italian villa style of the venue Olivio~nor. Embracing all the Tuscan romance, she dreamt up an intimate wedding, with a minimal colour palette, that let garlands of olive leaves and soft, pretty details do all the talking. She shares “This editorial was filled with vintage and modern elements with a neutral colour palette to create a simple, classic elegance.”
A table set in the outdoor courtyard, topped with olive leaves, white fabrics, and neutral-toned crockery compliments the relaxed Italian style. Inkberry Calligraphy creating a stationery suite of hand-calligraphed place cards to bring a little sense of romantic elegance to the otherwise minimal look. The relaxed, beauty culminates in a stunning semi-naked cake designed and made by Bicycle Kitchen.
The newlyweds, real-life couple Brooke Cross and Tamati Cross wandered the gardens as the stars of the show. Brooke, who had her makeup styled by The Makeup Artist and hair by Alana MUHA dressed in two beautiful gowns by New Zealand designer Sally Eagle, while Tamati wore blue and black tailored pieces from 3 Wise Men.
“I wanted to utilise the picturesque natural surrounds,” says Sam, “It was about creating a rustic but elegant aesthetic giving the feeling of a romantic meandering afternoon under the Martinborough sun. La Dolce Vita in the Wairarapa.” The intimate love story beautifully inspiring you dear reader, to embrace nature and relaxed, romantic style for your big day.
