If you’ve ever scrolled through a wedding forum, If you’ve ever scrolled through a wedding forum, you’ll know there’s one phrase that pops up time and time again: “Does anyone have a recommendation for a X vendor? Preferably one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.”⁠ ⁠ And look, we get it – nobody wants to overpay for anything, especially when it comes to weddings. But here’s what’s worth keeping in mind:⁠ Your budget isn’t someone else’s.⁠ ⁠ Everyone has a different idea of what’s “cheap” or “expensive.” What seems outrageous to you might be totally reasonable to someone else, and vice versa. What’s a priority in your wedding budget is going to be different to your neighbour's.⁠ ⁠ Weddings cost more than you think.⁠ ⁠ Obvious? Maybe. But when you start planning a wedding, you’re learning all the costs from scratch, and that’s hard. It’s easy to look at a service and think, “That’s a lot for one day,” but like any creative industry, there’s a LOT that goes into the final product you’re seeing. So yes, it might be difficult to find that dream service you saw on Instagram at a fraction of the cost, because that price might not match the level of quality you're hoping for.⁠ ⁠ Wedding budgets vary wildly.⁠ ⁠ A wedding in a rural shed with 40 guests? That will look very different, cost-wise, to a wedding in the middle of a city with a high-end restaurant reception, even if both have 40 guests.⁠ ⁠ Oh, and if you’re wondering why certain things cost what they do, we’ve got you.
