With a perfect Spring day, there was not a cloud in the sky when Syndette and Gideon tied the knot overlooking Brisbane’s cityscape.
The pair, who met over mutual friends who were dating at the time. “They both decided to invite us to a New Year’s Eve party, and the rest is history.” They opted to utilise the convenience (and the beauty) of Brisbane venue Victoria Park. Their garden courtyard ceremony under the bright blue skies, their photo session on the lush rolling green lawns of the golf course, and their reception in the onsite marquee.
It kept in line with the simple, elegant views of the day, that focussed, most of all on the love story. “We wanted to keep things light and fresh.” explaining Syndette, who along with Gideon, chose Love From Luna to capture their day.
Gideon popped the age-old question, after a bike ride in Brisbane, tells Syndette. “Gideon took me on a spontaneous bike ride around Kangaroo Point, and then took me to Mt Cootha lookout. As we were leaving he took me to a gazebo that overlooked Brisbane and then popped the question.”

“Gideon is a simple guy and knew he wanted a classic black tuxedo” tells Syndette. “It didn’t take us long to find a great one! He also paired it with a crisp white shirt, black bow tie, suspenders and patent leather black shoes.”
Syndette walked down the aisle to the Kina Grannis version of “Can’t Help Falling In Love”.
Syndette and Gideon opted for tradition as they wed in the garden courtyard of their venue. “We wanted to have a traditional Christian ceremony which our celebrant helped us put together. We didn’t want it to be too long so we kept it short and sweet. It did include a few readings which our celebrant Peter read.”
“I went for a form-fitting Madi Lane dress which I purchased from LuvBridal. I didn’t visit many stores but I did spend quite a while trying on different dresses. The sales assistant there really took her time to show me options on which dress would suit my shape and vision. I went with my choice as I couldn’t stop thinking about it whilst I was trying on others and I really loved the lace detailing and how it hugged my body.”
The couple loved working with their photographer .”Emily from Love from Luna is exceptional and is amazing at what she does. We are so blessed to have been able to work with her. Emily makes you feel so comfortable and is so helpful throughout the whole process. Her quality of work is unmatched!”
Syndette has this advice for you. “Soak up the time you’re engaged and enjoy the planning process. It may be stressful at times but it’s a lot of fun! I would also say remember that the day is about you and your partner. Also try and soak up as much of your day as you can, as your wedding day does go by so fast!”
Gideon’s favourite moment of the day? “My favourite moment was when Syndette and I got to see the reception room before the guests did. It was just her and I, Emily also was there taking photos of us. The room was dim and just felt warm with just both of us dancing on the dance floor.”
The newlyweds wanted their reception to be fun, so they kept an eye on their timeline. “Gideon and I made sure our night wasn’t filled with speeches so we kept those short and sweet. We wanted our guests to enjoy the night and to celebrate with us. We also had a photo booth available for our guests to use.”
“We adored the singer we hired to play at our reception” tells Syndette. “We hired Yac Fonoti from McGee Entertainment. He also was our DJ and MC for the night. He was a massive hit with our guests.”
And then? Time to party! “Our first dance happened after speeches and we danced to “You’re still the one” by Shania Twain. We also decided to have our loved ones come and dance with us halfway through the song which was lovely.”
All the congratulations to you both Syndette and Gideon. Thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding day story with us. Thank you also to Love From Luna and Victoria Park for sharing this beautiful story with us.
