If t-shirts and shorts aren’t your thing, if high heels and a bow tie are more your style, then you’re going to lose yourself in every single shot captured by Jacob Gordon Photography (who is fast becoming the king of glam sessions!).

Mark and Lisa embraced the high heat of the Perth summer, which culminated in a spectacular sunset full of golden light. The result, and the combination actually stunning as these two marked their much in love moment in time.

These two first crossed paths in 2010 through friends, Lisa filling us in on their story. “We met back in 2010 through mutual friends and not long after started hanging in the same friendship circle. As friends, we did a lot together such as parties, concerts, holidays etc. We studied at university at the same time and became a lot closer.

I was in a long-term relationship with my ex-boyfriend for five years therefore never even considered Mark as anything more than a friend. It wasn’t until my relationship with my ex-boyfriend had ended and Mark saw the opportunity to swoop in and give it a shot to get out of the friend zone. Safe to say it definitely worked and we haven’t been apart since.”

That inseparable bond, led to Mark surprising Lisa with an utterly romantic dinner, right before he asked her to marry him. “In January 2021 we were holidaying in Boracay, Philippines for his sister’s wedding. One night at our resort, he had arranged a candlelight dinner on the pool deck. It was super romantic and I was shocked because I didn’t think he had it in him to be that romantic. Anyways after dinner, the song “Best Part” by H.E.R started playing whilst he read out a 10-minute long speech declaring his love for me. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!”

Lisa and Mark love their bond. “We get along like a house on fire. I think we complement each other very well, and although we both have flaws, it’s very easy to look past them because there are so many good traits about each other. There isn’t a day that goes by where we aren’t laughing. We love our dogs and spend most of our time with them. We love to go on adventures on the weekend and try to spice it up with new date night ideas each month.”

It was important to Lisa and Mark that even through their engagement photos they honour their heritage. “Our first set of photos we wanted in the CBD as there are some great areas for photos. We decided to dress in our cultural national dresses, I wore a red Vietnamese Ao Dai dress and he wore a Filipino Barong. Basically to represent where we have come from.”

“Have you seen his photos? His work is amazing, to say the least” raves the bride to be about the couple’s choice of photographer. “I happened to come across one of Jacob’s engagement shoot photos on Instagram and thought they were so eye-catching. I was very impressed and shortly after began our discussions with him. He is very professional and answered all questions we had. When it came to our engagement shoot we both felt so at ease as we’ve never taken professional photos before. He captured all the best moments and guided us on how to look, pose, dress etc. We are so happy with how the photos turned out and can’t wait to see what the wedding photos are going to look like!”
