You can picture yourself walking down the aisle towards your ever after, breeze drifting around you, fresh scents of earth and grass and flowers hitting your senses with full force. But can you see what you’re wearing yet? Choosing your wedding gown is daunting enough without having a theme thrown in the mix. Even one as ethereal and dreamy as nature and the natural world. The wonderful team from White Lily Couture has put together some ideas on how to choose a gown that is perfect for your nature theme wedding!

A whimsical garden wedding, a mountain top elopement, or a dreamy ceremony by the ocean. All of these things have one thing in common: they are about celebrating love whilst being immersed in mother nature’s beauty. It is when we are in touch with our surroundings that we get to be our freest and feel our fullest. Bridal designers from all across the globe are asking themselves the same question: How do we dress to compliment our natural surroundings? How do we dress to fit in, yet to stand out? How do we show nature that we’re playing with and not against our elements?

Whimsical Blooms
Tattoo lace, floral appliqué, and romantic fabrications – in 2021, Spanish designer Pronovias embraced all whimsical elements of being a bride. Dresses like NADINE featured soft tulle with petal-like, 3D appliqué, and playful detachable sleeves. ROCIO, on the other hand, displayed embroidered thread flowers that bloom all over the body by incorporating a tattoo lace like no other. Pronovias showed us their take on whimsical gowns and we are here for it! We also got to witness similar approaches by L.A. based designer Enzoani, who was big on their sequin floral embroidered lace, when releasing their NAROZA gown. The LEXIE gown from Erin Clare is another floral favourite! The entire gown is adorned with bold floral lace giving it a touch of whimsy.

Follow the Flow of the Waves
When thinking about whimsical dresses there are two elements that stand out: water and wind. Following the flow of the waves and creating designs that capture the wind have ‘whimsy’ written all over them. The light and dreamy chiffon skirt on ANDREA by Pronovias is every ethereal bride’s dream come true. A simple and minimalistic canvas that allows for effortless movements and features a skirt that falls oh so beautifully – we are obsessed! Sunshine Coast-based designer Erin Clare stunned us with her ALEX gown, which features a skirt like no other. A statement gown with a light and airy feel, allowing brides to embrace the beauty of nature, whilst feeling glamorous on their special day.
