Maddie and Matt planned their outdoor boho wedding at the Caringal Scout camp, and we adore every single moment! From the thoughtful details to the romance in every frame, we can’t wait for you to see it all, captured by Tahnee Jade Photography.
Meeting on Tinder, Maddie shares, ”We spoke for months before we decided to catch up. We finally decided to hang out and we have been inseparable ever since.” As for the proposal, it’s short, sweet, and absolutely perfect for Maddie and Matt. The bride remembers, ”I was twenty weeks pregnant with our first daughter and feeling miserable so I was laying in bed and Matt offered to make me a cup of tea. He brought it into me and was hanging around on the bed waiting for me to finish it. I had finally finished my cuppa and noticed there was something in the bottom of the cup. I thought one of my rings had fallen off but no. It was an engagement ring! He asked me to marry him and I said YES!”
Wearing a stunning spaghetti strap gown with lace overlay, Maddie wore a Madi Lane Bridal wedding dress. She tells, ”I absolutely loved going dress shopping! I knew I wanted something very lacy and boho. I didn’t want pure white so I opted for a nude colour with white lace. The girls at Luv Bridal were absolutely incredible and I couldn’t recommend them enough.” Simple rose bouquets were put together by The Willow Branch, while the reception flowers were styled by Woops a Daisy Florist.
Elements of their boho day came from the setting outdoors, in the romantic bushland. Maddie shares, ”We chose Caringal Scout Camp for our ceremony and it was the perfect venue. We wanted to get married outside in the forest and that was the closest thing to it. It was very natural which we loved and there was a creek close by so you could hear the water running during our ceremony. It was magical. We wanted our ceremony to be short and sweet, but we wanted it to also be super intimate and personal so we chose to write our own vows and I’m so glad we did. My dad walked me down the aisle to ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ sung by Kina Grannis.”
Heavy rain eased off just as the bride arrived to walk down the aisle, creating a beautiful atmosphere for their ceremony. Remembering one of her favourite moments from the day, Maddie shares, ”It was when we got in the car after our ceremony had finished and were on our way to the reception. It was a moment to soak it all in and realise what just happened. We couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces.”
Capturing the sweet details, bush backdrop and sheer joy was Tahnee Jade Photography. The bride was thrilled with her work and tells, ”Tahnee is INCREDIBLE! We clicked with her straight away and that was so important to us. Tahnee didn’t make it awkward when taking photos during portraits and at the reception she was so discrete it literally just felt like she wasn’t there.”
Handing over their wisdom learnt, Maddie and Matt share, ”Don’t stress over little things. Nobody remembers how many candles you had or what coloured cutlery they used. The most important thing is being surrounded by your loved ones with good music, food and alcohol. And lots of it haha!”
Clean and minimal, the aesthetic at Maddie and Matt’s reception carried on with their boho vibe. The bride shares, ”I loved that we chose to have cocktail food for our reception. It kept the party feel that we wanted and allowed everybody to move around and mingle. We also had a HUGE grazing table which was perfect as guests arrived and throughout the night for something to snack on. I DIY’d all of the table decor with the help of my mum. I loved seeing everything come together, it made all the money and hours we had put into it totally worth it.”
Surrounded by their loved ones, the party carried on into the night. The newlyweds remember, ”We have never been a couple to slow dance so when we thought of a first dance we definitely didn’t want it to be traditional. We asked our DJ if he could remix ‘Don’t Wait’ by Mapei so that we could do a slow dance for thirty seconds or so, and then it turned into a remix so everybody could join in. It was one of the best decisions.”
