Jesse & Elyce
Country Australia and country Queensland is unlike like any place on earth. The rolling hills, the uniquely Australian characteristics, each little detail, woven together to form something uniquely ours. For Jesse and Elyce, there is no place quite like home. Alongside Kellie Guinane Photography, Jesse and Elyce chose the site of their new home, in Comet, located in the Central Highlands of Queensland to capture their story. “This is our new home and the beginning of our life together” says Elyce. “We’re both country folk at heart, nothing else would have captured the true essence of us or our lifestyle.”
Let’s set the scene with the story of how the pair came to be. “We met at the Allenstown Bar in Rockhampton after a race meeting. Elyce (a professional jockey) had ridden a horse owned by Jesse’s grandparents and that was the conversation starter or ice breaker when they ran into each other that night. When Elyce’s Dad first saw Jesse he turned to Elyce’s Sister and at the top of his lungs said: “who’s this guy?”. We still laugh at Dad’s inability to stay quiet.”
The proposal? This was a big night for Elyce and not just because of the big question! She says “I had just ridden the biggest race of my career in Brisbane, Queensland and that night while enjoying the sights of the city lights Jesse asked me to turn to take a photo. When I did, Jesse was on one knee.”
On what she loves about Jesse, Elyce tells “I love Jesse’s sense of humour and his ability to make me laugh even when I am mad or sad. And the support he gives me in everything I do.”
And on Jesse’s love for Elyce “I love her work ethic and dedication, her toughness and her good looks.”
