It seems apt, that as we come to the last shoot of the year, that it’s a celebration of ten years together for Reiku and Brendan. Because after a year like 2020, what else do we need but a sense of hope in looking forward to all the joy that is to come?

The pair, who were joined by Damien Milan Photography in the ever stunning Blue Mountains, for a sunset session that embraced their own love of nature.

It was over sixteen years ago that the couple’s paths first met at a Sydney nightclub. “We met at Spectrum (a night club on Oxford Street, Sydney) in 2004 when we were both so drunk!” laughs Reiku. “Brendan used to have a big afro hair and I kept seeing this afro moving around the dance floor, we made eye contact and started dancing together. The rest is history. lol”

The proposal was proceeded by one of the couple’s favourite relationship stories, tells Reiku “I’m originally from Japan. And in Japan, going to hot springs is very popular. Before Brendan proposed to me, he asked my father for permission while they were together in a hot spring because he figured that’s the only time they had alone. The funny thing is, everyone, is naked in hot springs!”

“We love each other for who we really are and we never had to change to accommodate each other. We’ve given each other enough space to grow individually. We see it more as a creationship than a relationship.”
