There was one statement, when we asked the team behind today’s pastel coastal wedding editorial for their inspiration, that really stood out. “2021 is certainly going to be the year of the wedding”.
And that? That sense of hope, of anticipation for the year ahead, after a year when we are so battered and bruised, is why we continue to share inspiration with you, why we’re excited to get up every day, and it’s why we’re so excited to share today’s feature because this one is jam-packed full of ideas, of hope and inspiration for that “year of the wedding” that is most certainly coming.
With Mallory Sparkles and Tawny Photography and Film behind the camera, stylist and planner Maple Weddings and Events came up with a look that was all about “Fresh, modern styling”. The team choosing the waterside setting of Pier 33, with its bright aspect and Hamptons inspired styling as their backdrop for their costal inspired day.
Inside, Balloon by TwistedMR create a soft blue balloon arch as an indoor ceremony option, the tones complementing the wood and white table setting, that was topped with linens from Dine In Style Tablescapes and modern stationery pieces, designed by Little J Design. and can we please have one of those pretty pink cocktails (hello, a nod to The Cocktail issue!)
Outside, overlooking the marina, Oh Honey Florals, who styled sweetly peach-toned floral details that pulled the entire look together, adorned a white arch, ready for celebrant Sommer Saunder Celebrancy to “make it official” for our happy couples (and awaiting a turquoise kombi from Deluxe Kombi Service ready to whisk the newlyweds away.
And those newlyweds? Well, Bertossi Brides at Paddington Weddings dressed the three brides, models Tiannah H, Angelina and Karis Grace in gowns that while simple (and utterly elegant), are reflective of the trends the designers are seeing for 2021 and beyond. “We found that in the last few years brides were wanting to simplify their bridal look, the ‘Megan Markle’ effect made the clean-cut, crepe gown come into its own. The Covid 19 Pandemic has encouraged this, even more, weddings are definitely still happening but they like everything in our life, couples are wanting a simpler, paired back event that is focused on the actual marriage and their partnership.”
Their look was finished by hairstylist Rolling Scissors and makeup artist Megan M Hair & Makeup, each making the most of the classic gowns, and the sparkling accessories to turn from model into ready to walk down the aisle! The trio accompanied by our groom, who donned a suit with complementing floral bowtie) from Suits Direct.
And let’s be utterly frank (hi Frank!) even a wedding that is minimal, that is paired back and elegant, can certainly hold something utterly decadent, and for this editorial, it was Chocolate 2 Chilli’s work, a stunning tall macaron tower, in colours that picked up every element of the shoot- duck egg blue, glittering gold, buttery cream and pastel peachy pink. It really added the icing on the wedding cake for this beautiful collaboration, that proved we’ve got nothing but hope to look forward to.
A cake topped with a macaron tower? That is amazing! It’s a unique way of topping the cake!
