In the middle of Sydney on a bright and sunny day, Sinem and Michael were married in a romantic ceremony. Surrounded by friends and family, the couple planned a day that was overflowing with personal details which photographer Siempre captured magnificently!
Sinem and Michael met on a Saturday night. Sinem remembers, ”Michael was the security guard at the club and I was celebrating my friend’s birthday. Michael approached me with a dance-off, I hoped to score some free drinks. Unfortunately, my moves were not up to scratch and I had to surrender my Facebook to him.” The groom proposed at Sydney’s Carriageworks, after organising the bride’s friends to be in the crowd, recording every moment.
With a gown made just for her, Sinem knew she had found her designer in Leah Da Gloria. She tells, ”I wanted a dress that was like an art piece, something that contoured my figure and sat like a glove. I visited many wedding dress designers but when I found Leah Da Gloria, she was the only one who understood my thought process. The experience was all about the dress being the right fit for me rather than the other way round.” The groom wore a custom suit made in Turkey, while the bridesmaids wore champagne Bec and Bridge dresses.
Walking out of the house to the sound of Zaffet Lebnen drummers built anticipation and excitement for the ceremony, as the fun began early in the day. Of the flowers that featured heavily throughout the romantic ceremony, laden with orchids and roses, Sinem says, ”The flowers I wanted were not in season so I left it to my florist to organise whatever she thought was best. As long as it was white with a mix of nude. The Faux Fernery was incredible. She understood my vision and just replicated it without any hassle!”
The romantic and rustic wedding ceremony was held at Beta Events. A purpose-built event space with high ceilings and exposed brick walls, it was perfect for Sinem and Michael. The bride shares, ”I wanted everyone to feel like they were in an old Greek or Turkish ancient hall. I wanted to vibe to be rustic with a modern twist. Michael Duchesne sang ‘All of Me’ by John Legend, he is absolutely Incredible!”
Photographer Siempre was on hand to capture the city wedding, as the bridal party wandered around Sydney harbour. Sinem tells, ”Shayben from Siempre was incredible. Both Michael and I are nervous wrecks, and when we are nervous we freeze. He made us feel at ease, he made us laugh throughout the entire day. My family and friends were so impressed by his efforts. It was if he was our guest at the wedding.”
Continuing the celebrations with a reception at Pier One Sydney Harbour, the bride and groom focussed on the superb view of the city that came to life as dusk fell, keeping decorations simple. They remember, ”It was an incredible venue. We were not fans of filling the reception venue with flowers and stuff, the floor to ceiling glass surrounding the venue with the view of Sydney Harbour was the best backdrop. Especially at night when Luna Park lights up.”
Keeping things simple did not equate to a lack of detail, as Sinem created beautiful features throughout the day. DIY extraordinaire, she shares, ”I did the bonbonnieres, welcome mirror sign, mirror sign with quote, and name tags. I am a design and technology teacher so I was able to DIY a lot of pieces. For our first dance, we chose a Sam Smith acoustic ‘Latch’. This song was very special to us as every lyric in the song resonated with us. We had the team from Spark fx organise fireworks on the outer edge of the pier one which sparkled in the background as we danced our first dance.”
As well as creative DIY, there was much meaningful detail throughout the day, as Sinem shares, ”We had a photo of Michael’s mum who passed away three years ago. A plinth with her picture and her favourite photos was on display on entry. And of course, myself being from a middle eastern background, we had to have the drums on arrival. The nazar boncuk, evil eye was a bonbonniere that was presented to everyone also from the Turkish culture.”
A very special thank you to our bride and groom for sharing your stunning wedding day with us, and congratulations! Thank you also to photographer Siempre and cinematographer T-One Image for your beautiful images.
