Stephanie & Andrew
If there has been one hit colour of the past few years, it is most definitely marsala. And today’s wedding embodies marsala, marries it with emerald and comes with stunning moments, stunning details and all the wonderful stories you’d expect. A gorgeous Adelaide winery sets the scene, a glam restaurant reception preceded by a gorgeous garden ceremony and two souls, some of Adelaide’s favourite hairstylists over at Bliss The Art of Hair (who of course, is responsible for today’s hairstyling) at the centre of it all.
Captured by Tay Bassi Creative, Stephanie and Andrew’s story began through mutual friends. They’d crossed paths many times, never actually meeting until Instagram led to a few likes, a few comments and their friendship blossomed into something so much more.
It was on a weekend staycation that Andrew asked the big question, Stephanie filling us in. “Andrew organised a stay at the Thorgrove Manor in Sterling (basically a castle in Sterling, Adelaide). He had the room all decorated with rose petals leading up a candlelight spiral staircase. Sam Smith was playing in the background and I had no idea he was going to propose. Once I got up to the top of the staircase I turned around and Andrew was on one knee with the ring.”
Andrew donned an amazing emerald green suit tailor-made by Knightsman Bespoke Tailors.
The details were just as important as the story for these two, who added pieces like a wooden bow tie by Peggy & Finn and a painted leather jacket for the bride. Stephanie sharing “All the unique touches that reflected our personalities – from the wooden bow ties to the custom painted “Just Married” leather jacket, we loved putting our own little character into the styling.”
Stephanie chose a Daisy Brides gown from The Vintage Bride for the day, along with an Audrey Austen overskirt, having it fitted beautifully at The Fitting Room. “I purchased a Daisy Brides dress from The Vintage Bride and an overskirt from Audrey Austin Bridal which gave me my train for the ceremony and to be able to have the dress looking different for the reception also. They were altered by The Fitting Room in order to have my dress replicate my ideal style and vision.”
Stephanie and Andrew chose Sneaky’s Restaurant for both their ceremony and reception, a favourite spot they both adore. “We go to Sneaky’s Restaurant for “date nights” all the time because we love the great Italian food and cool atmosphere, as well as the beautiful surrounding grounds as it is based inside Vigara Winery. For these reasons it was an obvious choice for us when it came to selecting a venue for our day.”
Stephanie chose Ruelle’s “I Get to Love You” to play as she walked down the aisle.
Stephanie and Andrew chose Jay Bangers to officiate their ceremony. “We both wanted a casual and intimate ceremony that was to the point and genuine, with one poem reading by my friend, Kirren” explains the bride.
Fleur De Lys styled the dramatic floral details for the day, the bride remarking “We went with natives for their floral arrangements. I wanted a dark bouquet so Leisa from Fleur De Lys dyed some of the roses black and painted the proteas burgundy to match the colour theme as the ones that we wanted weren’t in season.”
Of their photographer, the newlyweds rave “We absolutely loved having Tay Bassi Creative photograph our wedding. We chose them originally as we loved their editing style and as soon as we met them we got along so well. They made us feel so comfortable and relaxed on the day. There are so many photos we love I can’t choose a favourite.”
Inside the restaurant, the couple chose long tables set for a grand reception, noting “Anthony from Sneaky’s Restaurant was amazing – he catered to all out needs and let us do whatever we wanted to make the reception look exactly how we wanted it to.”
The first dance choice? A little Elvis! The couple taking to the dance floor to “Pledging my Love”. “The actual dance was just a bit of an awkward sway, really, but Andrew was singing to me throughout it – he sings that song to me all the time so it was such a beautiful moment.”
Lifesketch Films captured this beautiful film of the day, the film capturing all those candid moments we’re such fans of.
