Groom and groomsmen attire is often overlooked, but this week on Behind the Door I’m visiting a business who are all about styling the men in your bridal party, Peggy and Finn.
Peggy and Finn first started when owner Olly was looking for his own perfect groom & groomsmen accessories and identified a gap in the market for unique men’s pieces. Peggy and Finn now sell a huge variety of carefully curated ties, socks, bowties, cufflinks, pocket squares, suspenders and even the super unique wooden bowties!
I love that the designs are very Australian and give the boys the opportunity to stand out from the crowd in their suits. “We love creating unique designs based on Australian flora & fauna. Living on the coast we are often inspired by our local surroundings.” says Olly, “One of our best friends is a florist (Wildfolk Flowers) so we are often inspired by her brides and the trends for bridal flower arrangements.”
There are also modern gift box sets perfect for gifting to the bridal party on the big day. They could be filled with a matching bowtie, pocket square and socks or a wooden bowtie with cuff links and suspenders. You can mix and match fabrics, preferred timber and even custom etching with each person’s initials.
Sustainability is very important to Olly and the team. The products are packed with an eco-friendly cardboard wrap and sent in 100% biodegradable, compostable satchels. All materials are also ethically sourced and made from sustainable products including bamboo, timber and organic cotton.
Olly tells me that they are also always looking for ways to minimise the environmental impact of the production, marketing and distribution of their products.
The business in located in the Victorian beachside suburb of Torquay, which Olly says has been the perfect base for Peggy and Finn. “Torquay has long been a creative hub, originally being the birthplace of the surf industries with companies such as Rip Curl and Quiksilver starting here.” says Olly, “We love being based on the coast and being able to go for a surf before work or head down the great ocean road on the weekends.”
I ask Olly what his favourite part of running the business is and he thinks it’s all about seeing delighted couples looking fresh on their big day. “The most rewarding part of owning the business is when brides send through photos of their wedding and it’s great to see our unique designs being worn by bridal parties including the groom.”
Love a business that celebrates the uniqueness of every member of the bridal party!
Ms Zebra Says: I can’t help but love a company catering to the boys – they get a little left out in weddings and LOVE that they are environmentally conscious and aim for sustainability. Doing great things for Grooms – and the environment. What a combo?!
About Amelia Waddell of Moonstruck Bride: I’m a proud bridal store owner with a love of exploring creative spaces. Whether it’s an office, event space, workshop or retail store I love seeing how other wedding businesses create their own special magic. When I’m not fitting brides I love immersing myself in everything wedding, in the name of “research” of course.
