If there ever was a wedding that was so packed with chic, effortless style that we wish would rub off on us, then Danielle and Leon’s chic winery wedding at Zonzo Estate would be it. From the groom’s amazing crushed velvet jacket, to the long stem bouquet. This was a wedding, captured beautifully by Glass Slipper Photography that was every bit the “romantic, relaxed and joyful atmosphere” the couple hoped it would be.
It was six years ago when Danielle first made her move on Leon, she fills us in n how they came to be. “We met at a bar called Sweet Water Inn nearly 6 years ago. I approached Leon as he was about to leave and asked him to hang around and chat with me, he did, we spoke about everything and haven’t left each other’s side since.”
Unfortunately for the groom, the proposal didn’t go quite as smoothly. “Apparently, I ruined his attempts to propose 3 times but it happened in Bali, summer of 2017; we were at this beautiful beachside restaurant. We had waves crashing at our toes, the sun was setting and it was dinner time. I was being indecisive about what to eat, and he casually pulled out the ring and said “How about you marry me”.”
The groom’s embroidered velvet jacket from Asos was an absolute standout and chosen to reflect his own personality.
Danielle wore a chic gown designed by Chosen By One Day. “It was the first dress I tried on and the experience with the team at One Day Bridal was great” she tells. “The staff were so patient and knowledgeable and I felt like I got to know them and they got to know me on a personal level. I would recommend them to anyone going to get married. To me the dress is a simple, elegant and timeless – I’m just upset I can’t wear it again.”
Danielle and Leon chose to meet before their ceremony for a first look and photos, noting of their chosen photographers “Absolute legends, the pair of them. A perfect mix of relaxed, fun, easy going and so professional. Felt like we had known them for a lifetime and would highly recommend them to any couple going getting married.”
The couple chose floral designer Sugarbee Flowers to create lush floral details for the day. Danielle shares “When choosing the flowers, we decided that greenery and pops of white flowers (whatever was in season) would be best for the venue, we had flower bomb installations and table arrangements.
The groomsmen wore Australian native buttons, the Groom had the addition of a white rose. The bridesmaids carried long stem soft pink roses to match the bride.”
Danielle and Leon chose the Yarra Valley for both their ceremony and reception – holding both at the beautiful Zonzo Estate. Danielle explaining “Zonzo was our first choice in venue! We loved the calmness of the venue, the scenery and the rustic vibes. When selecting a venue, the food was a really important component for us; we wanted to ensure everyone left with a full belly.”
The bride walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of the Rolling Stone’s “Wild Horses”. Danielle remembers “It was so special walking down the aisle and seeing Leon, this was further enhanced when I looked around the barn and saw all our family and friends present. It was just the best moment as the day had finally arrived.”
Danielle and Leon chose Jon Von Goes to officiate their day, noting “We wanted the ceremony to be personal which is why we went with Jon as he individualizes each couple on their special day. It was a nice way of allowing our family and friends to know the more intimate details of our relationship; how we met, the goals we’ve achieved.”
Danielle and Leon enlisted Sketch & Etch to create special pieces to style their reception with, noting “The name places were important components for me, I didn’t want small pieces of paper with a name on them, I wanted our guests to take their names with them. So we ordered wooden names from Sketch and Etch.” One of the bride’s friends finished the place setting by making the 100 guests a shortbread cookie each.
As the pair escaped for sunset portraits, Danielle surprised her new husband with a customised Chosen By One Day denim jacket, with her brand new surname.
And then? The first dance! The couple choosing Fleetwood Mac’s “You Make Loving Fun”. “It’s a favourite song of ours and how we believe love should be,” tells Danielle.
A big thank you to Danielle & Leon! Thank you for sharing your stunner of a day with us! Thank you also to Glass Slipper Photography for today’s beautiful captures!
