Jessica & Casey
I am really never sure one can go past the beauty of classic elegance, and for Jessica and Casey, a gorgeous country setting at the beautiful Gabbinbar Homestead, combined with a champagne ballgown, oh so beautiful flowers and a personalised love story meant that this one was a day spent in utterly romantic style.
With Leah Cruikshank Photography the couple planned a day, that in the bride’s words was all about “rustic elegance” and it suited their classic love story of love at first sight!
Jessica fills us in “We met through mutual friends at a New Years Eve party. It was love at first sight. Casey & I connected straight away from the moment we met and it was sealed with a midnight kiss. I knew the night I met him that he was the one for me.” Casey popped the question on New Year’s Eve three years later on a holiday to Fiji. Tells Jessica “We were in Fiji for a holiday and we were having a private sunset dinner in a small hut built in into the side of a cliff overlooking the coral reef. Casey got down on one knee and popped the question and, of course, I said yes!”
The groom and groomsmen dressed in Roger David suits, Casey in black, while his groomsmen donned charcoal grey.
Jessica chose an elegant ballgown designed by Jack Sullivan, she tells “My dress was a champagne coloured ball gown with intricate beaded detailing on the bodice and layers of tulle underneath the beautiful lace on the skirt and train. It was completely different to what I had in mind but when I tried it on I fell in love.”
The Organic Florist styled beautiful floral arrangements in tones of pink and marsala, just what Jessica wanted. “We had stunning florals with a mix of roses and natives with a colour palette of deep cranberry, pinks, and creams. We were married at the old gates at of our venue in the gardens underneath a beautiful floral arbour.”
It was love at first sight for Jessica and Casey when they laid eyes upon Gabbinbar Homestead. “It was the only venue we looked at, and we fell in love with Gabbinbar as soon as we drove through the gates” remembers the bride. “We wanted a beautiful venue where the ceremony and reception were at the same place, and that had gorgeous photo locations. We also wanted our guests to be well looked after. Gabbinbar exceeded our expectations across the board. The service was second to none and they took the stress out of planning for the big day.”
Jessica walked down the aisle on the arm of her father to Lana Del Ray’s “Young & Beautiful”.
Jessica and Casey chose Abbee Lockyer to officiate their ceremony, noting “Our ceremony was very romantic, emotional and heartfelt. We both wrote our own vows and subsequently were both in tears listening to each other. We wanted the ceremony to be about the intense love that we share for each other. We had our mothers read out a passage about love written by Bob Marley.”
Of their photographer, Jessica remarks “Leah is incredibly talented. She creates a beautiful, moody and romantic vibe in her photos. She did such an amazing job of capturing our day.”
The couple gifted their guests small potted succulents and caramel scented candles, as they entered the Conservatorium for a sit-down reception, seated at long wooden tables.
Abbolou Cakes created the newlywed’s dream wedding cake, which was, in Jessica’s words “We had a semi-naked caramel butter cake with white chocolate fudge icing, topped with fresh flowers presented on an old wine barrel. ”
The newlyweds remember entering their reception as one of their favourite moments. “Walking into our wedding reception with fireworks cascading from the glass ceiling of the Conservatorium was pretty amazing as well” reminisces the bride.
Remembers the bride “The planning process was stressful at times but I loved being able to pick all of the little details. The best part was seeing all of our hard work come together on the day. It was everything we had envisioned and more.”
The newlyweds danced to the sounds of their bridal party, Jessica explaining “We had our first dance in the ballroom under the chandelier with a dry ice machine making it look like we were floating through the clouds. Three members of our bridal party (John, Stevie & Jade) played the grand piano and performed our first dance song which was ‘Helium’ by Sia.”
The newlyweds worked with Little White Cinema to capture this stunner of a film for their day,
