Megan & David
If you’re looking for a wedding that is jam-packed with everything that’s “in” weddings right now then Megan and Dave’s industrial style day is it. Folks, there is neon, there are endless plants, there is endless cheese and there are puppy dogs. We’re so thrilled that Jessica Josie was there because it means this story is your Wednesday morning treat!
And for me, it’s the speeches that make this one worthy of me knocking on Megan and Dave’s door and asking if we can go back in time and be guests (scroll to the bottom for that one) because they prove how much this wedding is about the fun of who these two are, the loyalty, the joy, and the beauty they brought to life as they tied the knot.
Megan and David first locked eyes on each other, in what Megan calls “good old fashioned online dating”. The happy couple telling their story “We chatted on e-harmony for about four months before we met! When we first starting dating, “meeting” people online was still stigmatised so we lied and said we met at James Squire Bar, as that was our first ‘date’ and the first time we met each other in person. Also, to be safe Megan brought 5 friends to the first date.” David popping the question on a romantic weekend trip to Melbourne.
After much searching, the groom and groomsmen decided on suits from Politix .
Megan chose a beautiful ballgown by Bridal By Aubrey Rose – with unexpected sparkle! She tells “My bridesmaid Camilla chose it as a “joke” because the only thing that David said not to wear was sequins because they were “tacky”. SURPRISE! I fell completely in love with a completely sequinned dress. It seems I just wanted to be a sparkly princess on her wedding day!”
The modern, industrial warehouse space of Stackwood appealed to Megan and Dave, who note “We were so lucky that our ceremony and reception were both at the amazing Stackwood! We really wanted a warehouse hipster vibe on the day, and as soon as we saw Stackwood we realised it was perfect, also it meant we could have the dogs with us the whole day.”
Megan and Dave worked with Pop-Up Planning Co to bring to life their vision for the day. “We both have a love for indoor plants so the plants were already at Stackwood and Laura from Pop Up Planning Co did an incredible job of styling it all!”
Megan walked down the aisle with her father to Hellogoodbye’s “Oh, it is love” sung live by the groomsmen.
“We had the most FANTASTIC celebrant Kristy Wright. She made our Ceremony so unforgettable” tell the newlyweds of their celebrant Kristy Wright. “We had informal seating, some barstools, some tables, some chairs, people could also grab a drink for the ceremony and sit where they wanted. We played hipster bingo and David even mentioned the zombie apocalypse in this vows!”
Megan and Dave’s pets were a huge part of the day. “We really wanted our dogs (Scotty the staffy and Sadie the chi x) to be a huge part of our day! They are our little family and we couldn’t leave them out. Scotty was one of the groomsmen and the ring bearer. Sadie was the Bouquet. Both did a fantastic job, even though Scotty had to be rush to emergency the next day due to the number of fatty foods people fed him throughout the night.”
Megan added very special jewellery to her look for the day, sharing “The bird necklace was given to me as a teenager by my father, the star bracelet matched a moon bracelet gifted to my mum the morning of and the Arrow necklace was given to all the bridesmaids so we could “find our way” to each other.”
The newlyweds made the most of the surrounding artwork for their portrait session, raving about their photographer’s talent “AMAZING!! Megan is terribly un-natural in front of the camera (huge poser) and Jess managed to still get amazing “real” shots. It honestly felt like being with a good friend the whole day.”
Megan and Dave chose wedding favours which were simple and utterly personal. “As our wedding “favours” we had about 100 framed pictures of us and all our friends that lined one side of the venue! We really gave it a family vibe! Each guest found their own photo and took that home with them when they left.”
Megan and Dave had such a fun mashup for their first dance, which kicked off with the father-daughter dance, they explain “The first dance Megan had was with her father to the tune of “Wild World” by Cat Stevens, which everyone ended up having a singalong to! After the first chorus Megan’s Father spun her off into the arms of David and the song blended into a song by Hellogoodbye called “The thought gives me the creeps.” ”
Megan and Dave worked with Til Death to capture their wedding film (including the dance clip above!). My favourite part? The speeches!
A big congratulations Megan and Dave! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day. Thank you also to Jessica Josie for sharing today’s gorgeous nuptials.
