Shell & Mik

I can almost feel the ocean breeze and those warm sunshine rays just by looking at today’s relaxed sunrise engagement at Kemp Beach, captured by Kellie Guinane Photography. The way the light bounces off the water… the way the couple look oh-so happy and relaxed. Ah! It’s magical in its simplicity, and exactly what Shell and Mik wanted.

“Mik and I are very laid-back people who spend a lot of time at the beach,” shares Shell. “We chose this style because it is so us. No makeup, no bells and whistles, just him and I enjoying the beach and each other’s company.”

Kemp Beach near Yeppoon, Queensland proved the ideal spot for the beach lovers, who actually met on MySpace! “Mik knew who I was and kept trying to come and visit me in the local clothing store I worked in,” says Shell. “He could never catch me so he looked me up on MySpace and asked me to spend the day with him and some mates at our local beach, Five Rocks. I took two friends with me in case he turned out to be crazy. Turns out he wasn’t and I ended up crazy in love with him.”

Shell and Mik later became engaged while on a group holiday in Bali. Shell reveals, “Mik had bought the ring in Australia before we left and stashed it in his surfboard case. We woke up early one morning and sat on top of the cliffs at Uluwatu watching the morning surf roll in. Mik got on his knee, pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. It was so beautiful and so perfect.”

And what do they love about each other? Mik is a big fan of Shell’s sense of adventure – it was something that he noticed about her straight away. Shell loves Mik’s willingness to do anything to keep her happy, and that he is extremely supportive, loving and kind. It sounds like they are definitely the perfect team for riding the waves of life together.
