With the night sky, comes sparkling beauty and it’s this, and a childhood dream of astronomy, that led Australian designer Tanya Anic to use everything celestial for her new collection, aptly titled “The Stars”,

and this inspiration is evident in every aspect of the collection, from the colours, the gowns worked in ivory, soft greys, beautiful blues and sparkling silver detailing, to the names. There’s “Esta” (the Hebrew word for Star) and Celestina, (French for heavenly person), there’s Eppie, (Greek & Hebrew) for star, and Itsel, Spanish for star of aurora sky.

But the designs are where the sparkling celestial magic really takes light. The beautiful gently sparkling fabrics taking on their own essence of the night sky. “Aaida” (Hebrew for ornament or brightness) is one of my favourites, the gown, column in silhouette, is dressed in layers upon layers of pearl beaded strands, the art deco style shimmering and sparkling with every movement. Another favourite “Elektra” (Greek for brilliant) is stunning in the softest shade of blue, a fitted bodice overlaid in delicate blue lace with a dreamy, soft flowing skirt.
Tanya telling “I have a deep love of fabrics, I was attracted to the delicate sparkles and soft floaty textured fabrics within the design phase.” And well, isn’t that just what dreams are made of after all?

The Tanya Anic “The Stars” collection is available at her Double Bay studio.
