Corry & Reece
We always love a rustic wedding around these parts. The relaxed vibe that embraces the charm of the country makes for a day that is all about the fun, the festivities and good old-fashioned hospitality.
With beautiful imagery by Zoe Theiadore of Ebony Blush Photography, today’s Western Australian country celebration comes to life for a couple that met while on a school basketball trip, but didn’t make a connection until their paths crossed again at a friend’s party.
After ten years of adventures, Reece popped the question while on holiday in Bali. Corry tells the story “I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety and hadn’t been having a great year so I was really wanting to do the volcano walk while we were away. We booked it in with only a few days left in the trip. It was a 3am start and it was a insane climb to the top (3hrs+). During the hike, I felt extremely exhausted and didn’t think I would make it. Reece left me for the dead and started climbing faster. He knew I wasn’t going to go back if he was up the top. I eventually made it and it was such a beautiful sunrise, words simply cannot describe. I was posing for a photo when I turned around and there Reece was down on one knee. Not a lot of words came out as he was super nervous, excited, exhausted and everything else haha. It was one of the most memorable moments of my life and something I will never forget.”
The bride chose a beautiful lace gown by Bridal By Aubrey Rose. She shares “I chose a Bridal by Aubrey Rose dress and it’s the only store I went to. The girls at the store are the most beautiful people. They made me feel so comfortable and beautiful.”
Corry asked her aunt to style the flowers for the day, noting “My Aunty Linda was a florist for quite a number of years. There was no doubt when we got married that I would ask her. She has done the flowers for my cousin’s weddings and a number of other people as well. She is amazingly talented and she knew exactly where to go and what to do.
My bouquet, I absolutely love! I am currently drying it out. We use natives and some baby’s breath. The flower girls had baby’s breath bouquets.”
The bride walked down the aisle with her father to a cover of Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me” performed by Matt Bloyd. She remembers “I arrived 10-15 minutes before the Reece and the boys as their limo got lost. I was beginning to feel very overwhelmed and nervous. My dress was done up so tight that I couldn’t breathe. Once Reece and the boys were organised, everyone was seated the ceremony began. It was just as I imagined it to be. My dad walked me down the aisle and he kept reminding me to breathe. Just as I walked out of the barn and saw everyone, I thought I spoke under my breath but I actually spoke out loud and said “S**T”. Everyone laughed and Reece said that from that moment he relaxed, I, on the other hand, was shaky and even more nervous than before. Reece said he could see me shaking.”
Marry Me Marissa wed the couple, Corry remembering “Our vows were suggested to us by our celebrant, we went through the lists and chose the vows that suited us. Walking back down the aisle with my husband was the best feeling especially having all of our loved ones cheering us on.”
Corry enlisted Rutherford Events to help the day run smoothly, she notes “To be honest, I didn’t like planning the wedding. It wasn’t my thing. It stressed me out especially moving closer to the big day, I just didn’t know what I needed to do and when do organise things by. I am so thankful and appreciative of my wedding planner Zoe. She was a late addition to the vendors and I honestly wish I got her sooner. She made my life so much easier and less stressful.”
Corry & Reece chose Albion On Swan for their wedding. “We chose Albion on Swan as it had such a relaxed feel, it was open and we loved how we could take advantage of both barn and outdoor areas. Another factor we loved was the fact that we had control over how we wanted to style and use the venue.”
“With all of our vendors I did a lot of research, messaging around and checking out reviews” tells Correy of their photographer. “I really love the way Zoe photographs and captures moments and moods. She made us feel so comfortable and relaxed as we are not people who enjoy photos or know how to be in photos. Zoe works hard and is definitely suited to her career, she creates and produces beautiful photos. There honestly isn’t one photo from our engagement photo shoot or wedding that Reece and I don’t absolutely love.”
Guests enjoyed a delicious grazing table feast, says the bride. “All of our vendors were super awesome, on time and made our day amazing. Thank you to all of them.”
The reception was filled with handmade details. Reece made long wooden bar tables, the bride’s father created tabletops and refurbished other pieces for the wedding, made easels and signs and the bride’s mother even lent a hand – refurbishing the signing table. A delicious doughnut wall was created by the bride’s sister.
The newlyweds took to the dance floor to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” for their first dance. Correy remembers “I loved our first dance, as much as we aren’t slow dancing people or dancing people at all, we felt so happy to be in each other’s arms and loved being in that moment.”
Corry notes “I love my photos, I love capturing and keeping memories, so it was super important to have as many things as possible to be able to do that. I borrowed a friend’s polaroid camera and had plenty of film for people to use. Our signing table was a little different too, we had people sign little wooden love hearts and put inside our keepsake box, we also had date idea cards where people could suggest different date ideas for us moving into married life.”
Corry and Reece chose Blake Projects to capture this beautiful film of their day.
Congratulations on your marriage Corry and Reece! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Ebony Blush Photography for sharing today’s celebration.
