Renee & Mathew
There is a reason a classic wedding with plenty of romance is always a favourite and this beautiful Perth celebration of Renee and Mathew completely sums it up.
Enlisting Angela Higgins as their photographer, the couple opted for a traditional church ceremony, before celebrating with dinner and dancing with their favourite people. For the two high school sweethearts, who began their romantic story ten years ago, it was always going to be a day filled with (in the bride’s very own word) “Lots of happy tears, hugs, kisses and an absolute love filled day and night”.
It all began with a surprise drive, Mat sneaking the bride out for a surprise trip. Renee fills us in on the story of how it all began. “On the 1st of May, Mat brought me for a drive and wouldn’t tell me where we were going. I thought we were going to buy a puppy, as my birthday is on the 8th of May, so I was very excited. We drove around to where my parents live and I was a bit confused and then we pulled over to the park where he first asked me out in high school and I knew straight away. He got down on one knee and it was very sentimental and romantic.”
“It was elegant, romantic and classic with lots of white, rose gold, soft pink and greenery” tells the bride of the couple’s chosen wedding style.
The bride chose a fishtail style gown, telling “My dress was an Enzoani dress from Dion For Brides. I was very overwhelmed with choices when dress shopping and I ended up choosing a dress that I didn’t picture myself in, but complimented my body shape.”
Renee and Mathew wanted help on their day, so enlisted Blonde and Blue to plan and style their vision, Renee, remarking ” I can’t even describe the amount of work and dedication she put into ensuring my wedding day was incredible. She coordinated and styled my entire wedding and was there every step of the way. We worked together for around a year and she is extremely passionate and knowledgeable. Any question I had was always answered and I was not stressed at all the entire planning process. I couldn’t have done it without her and thank my lucky stars I found her.”
The groom wore a classic suit from Wolf Kanat.
Renee & Matthew chose St Mary’s Leederville as their ceremony venue. Noting “The church we chose is close to my work and I would drive past it every day. It’s a gorgeous church with lots of stained glass windows which look amazing in the afternoon with the sun shining through. This church also has quite a neutral background inside for photos and was big enough to accommodate my guests.”
Of their ceremony, Renee remembers “We asked our school priest who Mathew and I have known growing up, to marry us so it was amazing to have Father Jo with us on the day. Father Jo has such an incredible personality and made everyone laugh. All our family and friends were emotional through the entire ceremony watching Mathew tear up as I walked in. I wanted everyone to witness us promising our lives to each other and the ceremony is the most important part of the day. I wanted it to be perfect and it was. People were laughing and smiling the whole time.”
“Angela Higgins was absolutely amazing. I love her photography style and she is a beautiful person. She was so easy to work with and we built a really good relationship leading up the wedding even though we never met. She was so relaxed and ensured our wedding was captured perfectly. I am so happy with my images and how efficiently I received them” tells Renee of the couple’s photographer.
Renee and Matthew chose Fraser’s Events & Catering Kings Park venue for their reception. The venue making an elegant scene for a night of revelry in the gorgeous blush and rose gold colour palette.
The tables were dotted with blush and rose gold details says the bride “I had the pleasure of Branka from Blonde and Blue Style my entire wedding so there were many incredible details on my wedding day.
My absolute favourite was the rose gold cutlery which just made the entire table setting stand out. Also the gifts of Rose gold candles (Opulenza Fragrances) for the girls and cookies for the boys (Sweet Daisy May). I absolutely loved all of the florals and candlelit room when I walked in.”
Zinnia Floral Design styled the lush floral garlands, the bride remembering “Choosing flowers was probably the most exciting part for me. I had multiple meetings with my Stylist Branka from Blonde and Blue and Natalie from Zinnia Floral Design to discuss the flowers. I went for an unstructured, spring garden style bouquet. with soft pinks, white and greenery. For the reception, we had a mixture of high table designs and low table designs. The bridal table had cascading florals down the front of the table and surrounded by candles.
All the groomsmen and all the immediate male family members were given a stunning buttonhole flower.”
The newlyweds chose a modern favourite for their first dance. “We had organized a dance lesson a few weeks before to surprise our guests with a choreographed first dance to Perfect by Ed Sheehan. Everyone was shocked we had learned it and it went perfectly even though we were so nervous. Mat actually sang the words to me the whole time which was very sweet. and the song suited us so well as ‘we were just kids when we fell in love’ at just 15 years old. Many guests, even Mat’s mates were in tears!” tells the bride.
