It is such a celebration this month across Polka Dot Bride of all things black tie, that we couldn’t help but explores all things black tie wedding decor!

Black tie weddings have such a sense of occasion, that the decor should rise to it and complement the beautiful attire and details you weave throughout the day. Today, we’re rounding up eight ideas to inspire your own black tie wedding decor.  From colour palettes to details, to floral ideas.

Neutral Colour Palettes

Colour palettes come into play so early on in the wedding planning process (stay tuned, we’re sharing our favourites soon!) and for a black tie wedding, where elegance is the name of the game, kicking off with a neutral colour palette can start off the black-tie vibes. If you thought neutral was boring, think again – below, white textures are combined with frosted, white votive holders and white blooms. The look is minimal, edited and beautiful.

Metallic Candlesticks

Candles are always a favourite, but when you pair them with metallic candlesticks, they take on a sense of formal glam. Whether you choose traditional candelabras or mismatched holders as you can see below – they’re a beautiful way to add a little sparkle.

Black Crockery

In a world where white crockery is the norm, why not try something different and use black? Deep tones like black, work so well at a black tie wedding – grounding the formality and pairing well with the glamorous attire of guests. Adding interest with beautiful black pieces on the tabletop adds an extra touch of moody beauty to a look.

Plenty Of Candlelight

I say this so often because it’s true! Candlelight is the easiest way to bring glamour to an occasion an what better for a black tie wedding than oodles of it? Pillar candles, taper candles – whatever you wish. If you place candles en masse, you’ll have an amazing look without much trouble.

Chandeliers

One of the first signals that you’re in for a night of glamour is a sparkling chandelier – so why not include them in your wedding decor? A beautifully beaded piece hanging over you, your day, your vows, guarding your reception table or sparkling over the dance floor!

Mirror Details

Mirrors are oddly, unexpectedly versatile and beautifully luxe. From mirror tabletops, to mirror signage (even think mirrored table charts!) they can make a room look much larger than it is and add a glamorous touch.

Metallic Details

Metallic details add instant sparkle to any tabletop and playing with tones and elements can really formalise a setting. Think gold cutlery, brass vases, metallic foil lettering on menus. Playing up the glam style of the day through hints of metal turns something plain into something that says ‘beautiful occasion’.

Suspended Floral Installations

For a black-tie wedding, making a space feel as grand as the dress code can be a little intimidating, Beautiful suspended installations (so on trend!) can add a sense of style while creating an intimate vibe within a space. They look magnificent and can easily lift an otherwise simple setting.
