If bridal shower’s pretty pastels are completely not your thing, then today? We have the most beautiful treat for you. A bridal shower that ditches tradition and adds bright, beautiful tones, scrumptious, delicious sweet treats,  and stunning floral styling.

With photographer Nerida Phelan Photography, stylists  Betty May Vintage Hire worked their magic with their own hire pieces to create a gorgeous high tea setting, complete with a beautifully styled bar cart for tea, a table of delicious cake and of course, the all-important champagne and punch!

Of the vision behind the shoot, Erin of Betty May tells “The style is a clash of the new and old. Feminine tones of blushing pinks and moody purples, antique crystal, fine bone china and silver accents are juxtaposed against a gritty industrial backdrop of white painted brick walls, concrete floors and exposed timber beams, while gold calligraphy, pink agate slices and shimmering table runner modernise the look.”

The scene was set with a beautiful wooden table, laid with a beautiful floral garland styled by Libertine of dahlias, hydrangeas; cottage, spray roses and cluster roses; snapdragons, dianthus; lisianthus and hanging amaranthus with foraged pistachio, maple, magnolia, olive, peppercorn branches, all coordinated with a beautiful hanging installation. Betty May Vintage Hire created delicious and decadent petit fours – sweet floral topped pavlovas, metallic leaf decorated doughnuts, coconut bowls and macarons that sat on vintage floral tiered cake stands amongst cut crystal glassware and purple taper candles, all complemented by the modern, agate place cards hand-lettered by Pepper Eve Calligraphy.

The stationery continued the theme, with Pepper Eve creating watercolour washed calligraphy signs for each station, the tables set for guests to enjoy. One, laden with drinks, included a rose and gin cocktail, champagne, grapefruit cordial in a cut glass drink dispenser and local wines to get the party started.

And of course – there was tea! Vintage crockery paired with carefully handmade teas from Cuppa & Co upon a tea station that encouraged guests to fill their cup.

For dessert, a beautiful high cake by Boutique Cake Art was finished in a technique called bas-relief showing the floral details, teamed with buttercream and royal icing wash to create a cracked stone look.

Erin completed the tale with her words “It’s no secret that we love old things. Antique, pre-loved, recycled, salvaged. But what we love more is mixing them with the new. It makes a point of not fitting in; taking a risk and making sure your celebration doesn’t end up looking like ‘another same-same Pinterest’ event.”
