Nat & Nick
There are few things that are more “Melbourne” than celebrating with your favourite people in one of the city’s restaurants, and that’s exactly how Nat and Nick chose to celebrate their modern Melbourne wedding.
The couple kicked off in one of Melbourne’s favourite garden wedding venues – The Conservatory in the Fitzroy Gardens before they entered, under tosses of confetti, their reception at old favourite Cutler & Co. Their day made the most of all the city has to offer and Luos Photography was there to capture it.
Nick proposed to Nat with a series of secret missions. She explains “Nick invited some friends over for an impromptu dinner so that he could sneak the ring and champagne into the house while I was distracted. We spent the night having a good old laugh about when Nick was going to propose already. The next morning, Nick got up like he was getting ready for work and at 6:30 in the morning called me down to come into the kitchen. I came to find Nick down on one knee in his Bonds undies. We celebrated the day away with the trusty friends that kept me distracted the night before, followed by dinner at Vue De Monde.”
The bride wore a stunning long sleeved gown created by Silvana Tedesco. She remarks “Finding a dress was hell. I scoured the bridal stores and hated everything. I came across Silvana Tedesco on Instagram who created a custom dress with the modern, simple and elegant design that I had in mind.”
The couple met for photographs before the ceremony, the moment kicking off what was months in the making. Nat explains “It was a project for us, and we loved working together on putting together our special day. Having said that, we were also glad when the planning was over and we could enjoy!”
Nat remembers “A little impromptu moment that we really enjoyed, was having pre-wedding tequila with the wedding party at the Marion, next door to Cutler and Co.”
Of their photographer, Nat tells “We have a bit of history with Michelle – our photographer. Nick went to high school with Michelle and her partner was also in the bridal party. She even snapped us on the night that we started dating at a party with mutual friends. We were so lucky to have someone we were comfortable with documenting our day and her candid style of photography was exactly what we were looking for.”
Nat and Nick chose Fitzroy Gardens Conservatory for their ceremony, explaining “It was an Intimate setting with a calming vibe. We chose this because it was really beautiful, protected from the weather and non traditional from typical ceremony locations.”
The bride walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of Beyonce’s “XO”.
Guests were welcomed to the reception with a beautiful floral installation styled by Ivy and Eve. Nat telling “I was always drawn to whites and burgundy florals with lots of texture. Ivy and Eve drew on this inspiration in a trendy but elegant way. We loved the ‘outside of the box’ way they used to display their flowers.”
Nat notes “We loved the small selection of family and friends that were there to celebrate with us.”
The couple chose Cutler & Co for their cocktail reception, Nat explaining “We had the first wedding in the newly renovated premises. Exceptional food, great staff and beautiful wine. It was sized perfectly for the number of guests we had (approx. 100). Our guests enjoyed cocktail style food in an upscale casual setting.”
Congratulations Nat and Nick! Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us! Thank you also to Luos Photography for sharing today’s gorgeous celebration!
