Travelling to Asia is close and convenient for Australians and each country and city has something unique to offer, from the total luxury of beautiful beaches, infinity pools and daily massages through to the hustle and bustle of Asian cities that are brimming with cultural experiences that are so different to anything here in Australia. Here are my top picks for places to honeymoon in Asia.

Ubud, Indonesia
As I am currently planning a getaway to the tropical paradise of Bali, I thought I’d have a look and of course dream about the perfect honeymoon. I came across the absolutely stunning Komaneka at Bisma, part of the centre of Ubud. It is nestled in the Campuhan River Valley, with picturesque views, nearby sloping rice fields and coconut groves. This resort is luxurious elegance and is designed to make you feel right at home. The resort offers airport transfers to and from Ngurah Rai Airport if made in advance.
Komaneka at Bisma really does offer something for everyone, from pure relaxation through to high intensity cycling and lots in between. While I didn’t even delve into all that Bali has to offer outside of this beautiful resort, if a warm, tropical getaway that has an abundance on offer sounds like your ideal honeymoon, I highly recommend you book in!

The Majestic Kuala Lumpur is something truly special. Located in the historic district of the city, The Majestic is adjacent to some of the most interesting tourist attractions in the city – the national mosque, the national museum, the Islamic Arts Museum and the Lake Gardens. It’s also right by Central Station.
This colonial style hotel was built in the 1932, and has all the hallmarks of vintage glamour. From the high ceilings, to polished wooden floors and sparkling chandeliers, the 52 rooms in this wing (18 Colonial Suites, 15 Governor Suites and 2 Majestic Suites) each decorated in sumptuous colonial style, but with all the facility of a modern hotel.

When my husband and I planned our honeymoon, one thing was immediately clear to both of us – this would be a relaxation holiday. All of our previous travels had involved exploring urban metropolises, famed historical sites or visiting family and friends, so the idea of getting away from it all to simply relax was incredibly appealing.
We settled on Vietnam as our destination or more specifically, the Fusion Maia resort in Da Nang. Billed as Asia’s first all-spa inclusive resort, Fusion Maia boasts an enviable spa with all treatments included as part of the nightly room rate. This means that on each day of your stay, you will receive at a minimum (I repeat, at a minimum) two spa treatments each – and more if you can handle them. Hello happiness!

Koh Samui is a beautiful island off the coast of Thailand. It is surrounded by gorgeous beaches and has lots of things to do and see. We spent equal amounts of time relaxing by the beach and exploring the island (and surrounding islands) for day trips. We both love Thai food and we had a great time choosing different restaurants to eat at each night and rating the meals. We also took a Thai Cooking class with SITCA (Samui Institute of Thai Culinary Arts). It was an afternoon course where we learned 3 different traditional Thai dishes. It was amazing, there was heaps of food (probably too much!) and we got to take a recipe book home so we could try it in our own kitchen.
