Aren’t Australian designers talented? Brisbane designer Wendy Makin has been producing stunning gowns for more than thirty years and from made to measure, to couture, her designs are always about timeless sensibility and her beautiful 2018 couture collection embodies that in every single design.
Instead of designing seasonally, Wendy designs constantly, inspired by her brides and using details from her work – extraordinary fabrics, or design details, to create new pieces and continually evolve her brand and its direction.
As for our favourites – it is certainly hard to choose! The beautiful ‘Anisa’ with its feminine sheer bodice floats to its gorgeous A-line skirt, while ‘Madison’ hugs the body with its clean and simple lines. ‘Nikita’ pays homage to the love of back detail with its beaded back and the beautiful, soft floral pattern of ‘Flora’ is so beautiful for a Spring celebration.
Completely designed and made in Australia, for 2018, Wendy experimented with the beautiful fabric of stretch crepe, incorporating crepe skirts, Mikado, embroidered organza and beautiful French laces in a collection that is as understated as it is beautifully designed.
The Wendy Makin 2018 couture collection is in store now.
