Teneale & Matt

We are just as much about celebrating the beginning of the story, as we are the years to come here at Polka Dot Bride, and this romantic country anniversary shoot is the perfect example of how the romance of life and love goes on long past the wedding day.

Stationer Teneale, of White Ink Design Co, wanted to celebrate her wedding anniversary with husband Matt. The duo spent the day with Flossy Photography, with a stunning bouquet styled by Ivy Flowers and hair styling by The Pretty Parlour.

It has been ten years of stories for these newlyweds, Teneale remarking “We met 10 years ago on New Year’s Eve out at a pub. Matt came over to me with a little smirk on his face and asked me if I wanted to go dance, and I said yes of course. For about 3 weeks after that night, we were completely inseparable, I think we just about spent every day together, and here we are 10 years later, happily married.”

It was on holidays that Matt proposed. “We were on a holiday in Bali, and Matt had organised a romantic dinner along the beach at a beautiful resort for our first night. This wasn’t at all unusual as he is usually the one that organises our eating out plans, so at this point I wasn’t suspicious at all!” And then the surprise came! Teneale continuing “We had a lovely meal overlooking the sunset and when the dessert came out the plate had ‘Teneale will you marry me?’ written in chocolate. I was so surprised and happy! I looked up at Matt who was holding the most beautiful diamond ring, and he asked the question again, of course, I said yes! The waitresses then came over to congratulate us and gave me some beautiful flowers. It turns out Matt had been planning this with the restaurant for weeks beforehand so all the staff knew. It was one of the best nights of our lives!”

“I love a lot of things about Matt, particularly he has a very calming and relaxed nature, being the complete opposite of me,” says Teneale when asked what she loves about her husband. Adding “I find that part of him complements me really well. He’s always so supportive of everything I do in life and I know he only wants the very best for me, he’ll always put me and our marriage first.”

Teneale remarks “Sarah from Flossy Photography was amazing to work with, as she kept it all natural and candid and gave us some slight direction when we needed it to get the best out of the shots. We would highly recommend her for a wedding and other special events/photo shoots.”

“As our anniversary is in Autumn we thought the Swan Valley would be the best place to reflect this pretty season, with the rich autumnal tones in the trees and fallen leaves and the long grasses in the open fields.”

On what he loves about his wife, Matt remarks “I love that Teneale is a very caring and loyal person and wife, I know that she’ll always be there for me and stand by my side through life’s ups and downs. I also love her sense of humour, we’re always laughing and joking around together which I think is important to be able to do with the person you’re sharing your life with.”
