Posey & Marc
When Marc and Posey started planning their wedding, they thought of where they loved to spend their time. With many happy memories of their first dates, drinks and dinners – the city of Melbourne was their natural choice. Their colourful city wedding full of urban vibes with whimsical touches, was all captured by Crystal Linter Weddings.
The newlyweds met quite unexpectedly, though not without coercion. Posey retelling “Marc was a school teacher then and I was a nanny picking kids up from school. The kids had to introduce me to their favourite teacher “Mr B”. We talked for 2 seconds and I didn’t think about him again. Marc bugged the kids’ parents for my number for eight months, then finally he came in for a haircut where I was doing my apprenticeship, and then we went on our first date.”
“I knew for a year that I wanted One Day Bridal to do my dress and knew exactly what type of dress I wanted, but thought I had better look around before I went in to see the girls. I had heaps of appointments made and kept canceling them. Finally Mum and I went to one and I hated it so much I almost cried. The next day I went to One Day and Mum and I just felt so comfortable and welcome and that was it. We loved the rest of our experience doing the fittings,” remarks Posey who chose One Day Bridal to create her wedding gown.
She adds “They were some of the nicest moments I shared with mum throughout the wedding. Because you could see my shoes I wanted plain and simple so I went with Christian Louboutin. But, of course, they weren’t the most comfortable and I knew I would be in them for a long time so I also had my back-up Kate Spade Glitter runners. I put them on at 9.00 pm; I was more excited with my runners than my heels.”
The bride’s cousin was chosen to walk her down the aisle.
“I had my childhood minister marry us from church which was special. We had my close family friends do a simple reading from the children’s book Winnie the Pooh.”
With their love for the city, the rooftop Alto@GPO was the most wonderful fit for Marc and Posey who tell “We love the city and it was where we had our first date and where we choose to go for drinks and dinner whenever we have the chance. We wanted a roof top venue where we could have both the ceremony and reception, nothing too old or too modern. I wanted to be able to add whatever I wanted to the space to make it feel like us. We saw the GPO building; Alto Events space and we fell in love. It was the only place we looked at.”
Of their photographer, Posey notes “Crystal is a friend of mine from school and I had seen her work from other friends’ weddings and I just love her work. I had seen her at weddings also and she has a great relaxed energy and a way of making you forget she is even there. She totally fitted in with everything we wanted, including only giving her 10 minutes for formal photos. I think photographers are one of the more important suppliers you choose as you spend so much time with them on the day. It’s important they listen to what you want and fit in with that. She did just that!”
The groom and groomsmen wore suits from Oscar Hunt, while the bridesmaids wore white dresses from Alannah Hill & Vintage Rose, Posey noting “I had 2 bridesmaids who couldn’t have had more completely different body shapes. We found Eliza’s dress at Alannah Hill, it was the only dress we tried on and it was perfect for her. Cat lives in London so it was a bit harder and we decided to get hers made. We had it made at Vintage Rose in Brighton.”
Pash Flowers created bright and beautiful floral arrangements that transformed the modern space into something colourful. Posey remembers “3000 roses were used to create a bright, full and colourful floral setting running the entire length of two long rectangular guest tables and filling the ceremony and bar areas with colour. My bouquet was white Amy Lou roses whilst the bridesmaids carried hot pink rose bouquets carrying through the bright floral theme. Suspended from the ceiling we created a 6 metre hanging garland of foliage including Spruce, Hydrangea Foliage, Trailing Ivy, Green Beech and Privet between the two guest tables which hung low over the tables.”
Posey notes “I wanted lots of fresh colour, I wanted a clean modern look with a timeless edge.”
The wedding wishing well was a very special part of the bride’s life. She explains “I used my childhood dollhouse as our wishing well which was super cute and we had lots of comments on it.”
