Any couple that has included a little time out for themselves in their wedding day schedule will very likely tell you it was one of the highlights of their day.
Simply being able to share some precious, quiet moments together away from the hustle and bustle of excited guests, to catch up, reflect and bask in the glow of being happy newlyweds!
There are many ways to get that valuable time out together, so at Brisbane City Celebrants we have put together our top five ways to give you that precious alone time on your special day.
1. Gondola or Boat Ride
Couples that tie the knot near a river or lake may enjoy a romantic gondola ride together between the ceremony and reception, or you could do this at the end of the day to unwind from the celebrations and take it all in. One of our bride’s parents surprised the newlyweds with a private midnight gondola ride from their reception across the Brisbane River to their city hotel and they described the experience as absolute bliss.
2. Champagne and Nibbles
Another option is to arrange for your wedding decorator to create a beautifully styled area, like a bar table with a chilled bottle of your favourite French Champagne at the ready. Once your guests have left the ceremony area to head to the reception, take a break from photoS (or let your photographer discreetly capture you from a distance) while you enjoy a glass or two of bubbly and fill each other in on how you are feeling or compare similarities on the surprise wedding vows you’ve just shared!
Taking those precious moments together was the inspiration behind this styled shoot, demonstrating the kind of relaxed settings that can be created to enjoy those precious newlywed moments before you join your guests at your reception.
3. Picnic for Two
A relaxed alternative is a picnic rug for you to kick back, pull off the heels and snack on some tasty nibbles as you enjoy each other’s company and be in the moment.
4. Visit your Special Place
Do you have a favourite park you like to visit at weekends, or perhaps you have an annual pass to the koala park, or a favourite food truck or ice cream van? Consider incorporating these places that are special to you (if distance permits), into your location shoot with your photographer/ videographer. Not only will you feel relaxed and enjoy yourselves which will shine through in your images, but guaranteed, you will reflect on your wedding day with such fond memories during future visits to your special place.
5. Sweetheart Table
Consider incorporating this American wedding tradition in to your day. Instead of having a long bridal table with all your bridal party, simply have a beautifully styled table for two that looks on to all the other guest tables – and enjoy your time together, reflecting on the day and watching your guests enjoy the night.
