Ash & Mitch
When the cold settles in, it’s the most wonderful time to dream of tropical locales. This Nusa Lembogan destination wedding of Ash & Mitch was captured beautifully by Gold Hat Photography. Ash & Mitch wanted a day that was relaxed, warm and casual – the stunning resort offering the perfect backdrop to their day.
The couple met many moons ago Ash reminiscing “Mitch took me on our first date to a movie when I was 15. We stayed together every day for the next twelve years.”
Ash and Mitch married at Villa Opera. Ash explaining “Five years ago while holidaying in Nusa Lembongan I saw Villa Opera and I knew that would be where we would eventually get married.
It’s a beautiful villa situated on the edge of the cliff with breathtaking views and a huge infinity pool. The Villa itself created the perfect vibe for us.”
The bride chose Jan Davidson Designs to design her gown, telling “From the very beginning I had an idea of what I wanted. I’m really tall and nothing I tried on quite hit the mark. I tried on a lot of dresses but kept coming back to my original idea, so I ended up spending hours on Instagram and Pinterest and designed my own dress to have made by a local dressmaker in Paddington, Sydney.”
For the processional, Ash tells “We chose ‘Boom Clap’, a version by Lennon and Maisy Stella.
Shane Vincent performed the ceremony, which the couple wanted to be quick and casual. Ash explains “We knew it would be about 30 degrees at the time of the ceremony so we wanted it to be quick, fun, casual and at the same time really beautiful. Our Celebrant Shane helped to make it perfect!
We wrote our own vows and Shane did a great job of condensing our 12 years together into a 15-minute story.”
“One of my favourite things about Nusa Lembongan is the overly relaxed vibe. No one is in a hurry and there are no certainties. A couple of days prior to the wedding we were told about the Islands biggest religious ceremony falling on the same day. The furniture, cake and flowers were all to come from the mainland and the boats weren’t confirmed to travel that day. The staff and the food were all delayed because of the ceremony.
This is all part of the island vibe and if we weren’t going to be OK with it, we wouldn’t have chosen Lembongan as our location. My most frequently used phrase in the lead up to the wedding was ‘It’s not exactly what we wanted, but it will work.”
Of their photographer, Ash notes “We chose Mark from Goldhat Photography. Mark’s wife is one of my sister’s best friends so we have known him for a while.
Mark also photographed my sister’s wedding a couple of years ago and I loved everything about her photos. We wanted someone who would fit in with our relaxed vibe, make everyone feel comfortable and would take beautiful candid photos of our day. We got exactly that!”
“The location was really all we needed. The villa was so beautiful and it was so special that all of our guests made such an effort to be there.
We wanted the reception to be relaxed and more like a party than a wedding reception because everyone was making a huge effort to get there and were treating it like a holiday. Our desire for a relaxed vibe very quickly turned into a pool party!”
Congratulations on your marriage Ash & Mitch! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Gold Hat Photography for sharing today’s celebration!
