Having grown up and coordinated weddings in Wanaka, New Zealand which also happens to be one of the most beautiful places in the world (not that I’m biased at all!) I have always loved the rustic theme that fits in with the natural beauty of the lake and mountains surrounding the country town.
Six years of living in London and Melbourne (definitely not country towns) and returning to weddings after working in the corporate event world my love for the rustic theme has not waivered. I have realised that if you have the right venue, suppliers and vision it can work in the most urban of settings for instance South Wharf, Melbourne.
There is something charming about walking into a room where is looks like everything has come from Mum’s garden or various friends and families cupboards who have been saving jars for you for the last two years. Flower posies that haven’t been perfectly manicured sitting in jars of different shapes and sizes as who wants to have the same jam year after year during the collection process? Herbs that have been lovingly tied with brown string for a favour and the seating chart hand written on a black board. Add to that specialty lighting whether it be fairy lights, festoons or baubles and you have something that wouldn’t look out of place in a barn, garden or an industrial chic venue down by the Yarra River.

After being lucky enough to see the many different weddings that Showtime Events Centre and Cargo Hall have bought to life over the last few months and walking into both venues and being ‘wowed’ – whether it be full glitz and glamour with chandeliers covering the ceiling and gold cutlery to full garden party with floral as far as the eye can see.

It doesn’t matter how much I love seeing new themes week after week the rustic theme will always hold a place in my heart – perhaps it’s a case of you can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl!
Ms Chinoiserie Says: A beautiful rustic theme is amongst my favourites too – so effortlessly chic!
