Sophie & Aaron
The gorgeous celebration of Sophie & Aaron, a gorgeous white & green Byron Bay wedding, made the most of the lush green rolling hills. With photographer Carly Tia behind the camera, it was always going to be a day to remember.
Sophie and Aaron met as children, Sophie remembering “We met way back in primary school and continued on at the same high school but we always had different friendship groups and were in different grades. After school had finished we started to become friends and grew closer and closer over the space of a year. That’s when our relationship blossomed into something more.”
Sophie chose an elegant lace gown by Grace Loves Lace after an intense search. She remarks “I found that looking for the dress was the most difficult of all wedding planning tasks because there were so many options that I loved! Having Grace Loves Lace on the Gold Coast was so handy as I was able to make a couple of visits to their show room. My dress was always going to be from Grace Loves Lace. I loved their style, they made it such a special experience for me. I opted for ‘Lottie’ in the end because it made me feel pretty, sexy and classy all at once. It was so comfortable yet flattering. I also wanted something that would be timeless and simple, I was so happy with my choice.”
Floral & Mineral created the stunning floral arrangements for the day, Sophie remarking “After changing my mind a million times I decided I wanted all white and leafy greenery. We had a beautiful garland over our arbor to match my wild flower bouquet. The bridesmaids had babys breath bouquets to keep it simple. And we had white rose petals scattered down the isle. The groom and groomsmen all matched with buttonhole flowers on their suits.”
Sophie and Aaron chose Fig Tree Restaurant for their wedding, using Byron Bay Weddings and The Wedding Shed to plan and style their day. “We knew we wanted a Byron Bay wedding, after a google search we found the Byron Bay Weddings website. There were so many beautiful venues, we chose The Fig Tree as it had everything we wanted and needed in the one location. My bridesmaids and I stayed in a cottage on site where we got ready for the big day, we had our ceremony in the garden overlooking the Shire and had dinner in the Fig Tree Restaurant. Aaron and I stayed in the cottage after the reception, it was so easy and perfect.”
Sophie tells “I walked down the aisle to ‘Yellow Brick Road’ by Angus Stone, a very special song to us. My Dad walked me down the aisle, it was so special.”
Heidi Robertson officiated the ceremony, Sophie remembering “Our celebrant read ‘A Proverb’ by Homer: ‘There is nothing more noble or admirable than when two people see eye to eye keep house as man and wife, confounding their enemies and delighting their friends’. It was very emotional and beautiful, the ceremony was purely a celebration of our love and that’s exactly what we wanted.”
“Fig Tree had packed a beautiful champagne picnic in the back of the Kombi we had hired for the day, it was a nice surprise when we went off location to get some photos together. It was so special because it was a moment of realisation that we were now married and to be able to have a picnic, grab some photos and just relax for a moment as husband and wife, was beautiful.”
Of their photographer, Sophie tells “We love Carly, we were so stoked to find Carly Tia she captured our day perfectly. We love her natural candid style. it’s so hard to pick just one! We were so happy with each and every vendor. But the photos Carly took were just magic, knowing that we have the best day of our lives captured so perfectly is something we can always treasure.”
Of their first dance, Sophie tells “We fell in love with a cover Asgeir did of Nirvana’s Heart Shaped Box. It was very us to have this song as our first dance. Our first dance was under the stars surrounded by our family and friends.”
Congratulations on your marriage Sophie and Aaron! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Carly Tia for sharing today’s beautiful imagery.
