Courtney & MJ
If modern elegance is your style, they Courtney and MJ’s wedding will be right up your alley. From the stunning waterside location at Sydney’s Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel to the beautifully romantic style that the day held as it unfolded. Their modern Sydney waterside wedding was beautifully captured by Gui Jorge.
On how they met, Courtney remembers “We had mutual friends who had mentioned we should meet and when we finally did we were the last two to leave on the night!”
Courtney chose a beautiful lace detailed gown by Pronovias from Marry Me Bridal. She notes “I absolutely loved dress shopping. It is something you dream about as a little girl. I made sure I included close friends and family in the process. I ended up loving quite a traditional dress and made a follow-up appointment to think about it for the week. When I went back to the shop I still wasn’t 100% sure. I tried on a new dress they had just put on the rack and said yes straight away. My mum and sister cried, it was definitely the yes moment!”
Courtney and MJ married at Wahroonga Seventh Day Adventist Church “We decided to have our ceremony at Wahroonga Seventh Day Adventist Church as it has personal and family significance.”
The ceremony took on a traditional church style. Courtney explaining “Our ceremony was very special. Saying our vows was the most important part of the day for us. We also bought a small ‘ring dish’ that said With This Ring, and it was passed around for our guests to say a prayer or blessing over as our rings made their way to the front. We chose Colossians 3:12-19 as our reading.”
“We also made sure that we hired a separate car (not with our bridal party) to take us from the church to the reception. I really cherished this as it was the only time during the day that we got to spend just the two of us, newly married.”
Blooms by Bethan styled the floral arrangements for the day, the bride including a very special bloom. She tells “My mum had silk flowers for her bouquet. She kept it so I also included one of her flowers in my bouquet.”
The bridesmaids wore navy gowns from Zimmermann , in what turned out to be a last minute decision! The bride recalling “We changed the bridesmaids dresses two weeks out from the wedding! We originally had decided to get grey dresses made. They didn’t flatter the bridesmaids and I ended up going to Zimmerman and hoping for the best. They had four navy dresses left in the four sizes I needed. It was meant to be! The only thing was everyone ended up being in navy. The groomsman, Bridesmaids, and both mothers. It made for a laugh during the speeches.”
Of their photographer, the bride tells “Our Photographer Gui was so great! We met with him the week before the wedding and we felt very comfortable with him. We didn’t spend too long getting portraits taken as it was more important to us to spend time with our loved ones. Our photos capture every moment of the day perfectly.”
Courtney and MJ held their reception at the beautiful Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel , the bride remarking “For the reception, we only looked at one venue and booked it straight away. We knew that everything about Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel was perfect for our big day.We still get people saying that it was the best wedding food they have had, with the best service. The staff looked after every detail. The planning of the day was easy with them and the actual day was faultless.”
Better Together Paper Co designed the paper treats for the day, the bride remarking “I used to work in the wedding stationery industry so all of the stationery was very important to me. Nicole did such a great job with everything from the invites, calligraphy to label the bridesmaid’s coat hangers and groomsman’s ties, to the menu, place cards, seating chart, and order of service. It was personal and really tied in the whole theme.”
For their first dance, Courtney and MJ chose”You Send Me” by Aretha Franklin.
Courtney and MJ chose Marry Me Movies to capture this magic film of their beautiful day.
Congratulations on your marriage Courtney & MJ! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Gui Jorge for sharing today’s celebrations!
Love how warm this whole wedding is 🙂 Not just in the photography but in the people 🙂
