We love the idea of a fantasy princess ball gown as much as the next bride-to-be. But sometimes a big deal of a dress just doesn’t suit your personal style let alone your wedding theme. If you’re looking for a wedding gown that’s a little bit different you’ve come to the right place. We cast our eye across the recent Virgin Australia Fashion Festival runways to find the best designer dresses for the Autumn Winter 2017 season for you.
We found glamorous, slinky gowns, tea-length and knee length dresses and even a great precision-cut white suit. There are bridal looks suitable for every occasion from modern minimalist weddings to casual beachy weddings. We even found a mini-dress that deserves so much better than a quickie ceremony at Elvis’ chapel in Vegas (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
Aside from dresses, we were also inspired by a few elements of VAMFF’s runway styling. These tips can easily be adapted to your wedding day. Sporting just one statement earring is a firm fashion trend for A/W17 so finish your look by wearing a stunning sparkler as an alternative to a veil, tiara or headpiece.
Speaking of veils, they don’t have to fall from the crown of your head. Haute couture brides can get experimental with a sheer choker or neckpiece that extends up over the face. And finally, if you’ve found a big-impact dress you love but it’s simply not “bridal”, flip the tradition! Have fun wearing your favourite colour or pattern and have your bridesmaids dress in all-white instead.
