Men’s formalwear in 2017 sees a blast from the past as well as ultra-contemporary themes; trends to look out for include double breasted jackets, draped pants, denim, slim fit suits and colour matching socks.
Double breasted jackets – First introduced in the ‘30s, the double breasted jacket originally had six buttons, with three that could fasten. Nowadays, most consist of a column of buttons for decoration and another column of functional buttons. There are heaps of modish double breasted jacket styles out there, from cosy flannel to outdoorsy fresco wool.

Draped pants – Don’t be afraid to play with pants that are a wider cut than your typical straight design. No, we’re not talking flares or pants that are oversized and desperately need a belt! We’re talking slightly baggy but still well fitted! Draped pants will provide your outfit with that modern twist that it’s missing.

Denim – Denim has only recently become a material utilised for luxury pieces. It’s always been thought of as representing a casual look, but thanks to technology, gorgeous weaves are being produced, and we are being gifted with stellar denim garments and accessories that we can wear to formal events.

Slim fit suits – Slim fitted suits are nothing new but in 2017 they’ll be on a roll. They hug the body, accentuating the figure, which generally looks more appealing than a physique that is lost in a loose suit. Slim fit suits are indeed comfortable to wear too contrary to popular belief, because they are contain stretchy fibres!

Colour matching socks – The colour matching sock trend is peaking right now. It involves choosing your sock colour to match back to the same colour as your trousers, so they basically look like one! This ‘double up’ effect makes for a minimal and refined appearance which just looks so stylish together!
