Jessica & Benjamin
The rolling green hills of the Australian countryside is something that even gets the most urbanised heart beating a little faster and this relaxed Queensland farm wedding from the lovely Adriana Watson certainly had us dreaming of sunsets and long country walks. Jessica and Benjamin met through mutual friends at high school and spent many a wonderful year together before the scene was set for their wedding at Ben’s family farm.
Jessica chose a beaded gown designed by Anna Campbell , noting “My dress was by Anna Campbell – I picked it because it just felt like me. I liked that it was soft falling, had an elegant vintage, bohemian feel and was SUPER comfortable to wear. It took only 30 minutes of wedding dress shopping to decide on my dress! My veil was my great grandmother’s which she wore for her wedding in 1927, so it was very special to be able to wear it. I kept my jewellery simple as the dress had a fair amount of embellishment – stud earrings that matched the bridesmaids, and my late grandmother’s pearls around my wrist – she was very special, and it meant a lot to have a part of her with me.”
Jessica and Ben married at Ben’s family farm, explaining “We chose Ben’s parent’s property because it felt meaningful to get married at a place that we call home and is special to us. It is also a beautiful location with views of the Glasshouse Mountains, Moreton Bay and the Mt Mee area. We had our ceremony and reception in the same place. Having our wedding at home helped to make everything feel really comfortable, relaxed and intimate. We were able to personalise everything to reflect ‘us’ which we loved. Having our wedding at home also meant we had more freedom in what we did, how the day ran, and meant we didn’t have time restrictions on when the night finished.”
Jessica walked down the aisle to Ed Sheeran – Tenerife Sea.
David Ayling officiated the ceremony, the bride remembering “We wanted our ceremony to be meaningful but also light-hearted. We wrote our own vows so they were unique to each other which was pretty special, and made sure to include a good mix of humour and seriousness.”
“All our vendors were wonderful! They were all so easy to work with and provided amazing work. I would highly recommend them all! We received SO MANY compliments on our beautiful photos, stunning floral arrangements, the spectacular marquee, the most divine food, and our extremely talented and wonderful musician!”
Of their photographer, Jessica tells “Our photographer was Adriana Watson… she is amazing!! Adriana is a very calm and warm person who made both Ben and I feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. Her work is very natural and real which we loved, and she captured our wedding beautifully just as it was. ”
“Our essentials for guests – good people, good food and drinks (and plenty of both), and a good dance floor/music. At the end of the day, most guests don’t remember the fine little details or how elaborate certain things are – but they will remember how much they enjoyed themselves! If guests are hungry, thirsty or unable to relax and have fun – that will be the main thing they remember! For us – we also wanted the above!”
The wedding was packed full of handmade touches, Jessica noting “We arranged and styled the ceremony and reception ourselves the day before our wedding. We used simple things like a wooden crate for the wishing well, my Dad made our arbour for the ceremony, and we added little personal touches including a photo book I made with photos from every guest’s own wedding. The photo book was lots of fun for everyone to look through and reminisce… or have a laugh!”
Of their first dance, the bride remembers “Our first dance was to La Vie en Rose. We just liked how simple the song was and the meaning is very sweet. La Vie en Rose means ‘Life in pink’ and is about being in love and seeing everything as rosy and cheerful.”
Congratulations to the newlyweds! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Adriana Watson for sharing today’s beautiful wedding with us!
