The beautiful blue skies and lush oceanside landscapes set the scene for Erin and Rob’s beautiful South Australian winery wedding captured by Luke Simon. I fell in love with the beautiful pink florals and sense of modern style – only set in stone by the clear top marquee that filled with fairy lights was every bit as magic as the day itself.

Erin and Rob met while working together – the couple meant to be, despite the bride’s initial lack of interest. The newlyweds telling “Erin and Rob met at work in February 2012. Erin was working on the Paediatric Surgical Ward as a nurse and Rob was rotating through as a Surgical Resident. Rob had loftily declared to his friends he wasn’t going to date anyone in the workplace, but couldn’t help but chase the pretty nurse that kept ignoring him. He eventually wore down her resistance and coerced her into a quick kiss. The rest, as they say, is history.”

The bride chose a beautiful strapless gown from One Day Bridal “I looked at many bridal stores in Adelaide and Melbourne though fell in love with a gown from One Day Bridal in Melbourne. It was a beautiful alabaster coloured gown covered by a delicate ivory lace. The dress was simple and elegant and the staff were extremely accommodating especially with last minute changes.”

The beautiful Waverley Estate set the scene for the day, the bride telling “Waverley Estate consists of a beautiful cottage in the beachside town of Port Elliot, one hour from Adelaide. We decided on this venue because of the beautiful grounds and the fact that you could build a wedding from the ground up. We were able to stay on site along with our bridal party the whole weekend.”

Erin walked down the aisle to “Feels Like Home by Martha Marlow. Played by the acoustic duo, Little Big Words.”

Hannah Dendy officiated the ceremony, the bride noting “We wanted to have a short but sweet ceremony so we had more time to have fun with our guests. We wrote our own vows, thinking it would be a more authentic expression of how we feel. We had three readings… Us Two by A.A. Milne, an excerpt from The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman and Blessing of the Hands.”

Guests celebrated under a clear top marquee filled with fairy lights and hanging florals. “The inspiration behind our day was modern with lots of flowers. We wanted a relaxed feeling for our guests focusing on good food and wine we wanted to utilise the beautiful surroundings of Waverley Estate as much as possible opting for a clear marquee. Family and friends were a focus of our wedding and they loved feeling included.”

The couple’s family pitched in and helped- right down to painting the details white! Erin tells “Rob’s mother and sister made the 3 tiered chocolate semi naked cake, while my mum made the lemon tiramisu for dessert. My dad painted all the wire objects used on the day to maintain the white, modern theme of the wedding.”

Guests enjoyed a sit down dinner catered by Two Brothers Catering with wine from Rockford Wines and beer from Vale Brewing. “The food provided by Two Brothers Catering was incredible. We received such rave reviews and months later our friends are still talking about how delicious it was.”

Of their photographer, Erin and Rob remark “We chose Luke Simon, although it’s fair to say it was hardly even a choice. We met Luke in 2012 at another wedding that Rob was a groomsman in. We both felt like we were immediately friends and he was so relaxed and fun and put everyone at ease. The photos at the end were stunning and we kept running in to him every few months at more weddings where he always remembered us and was ready to crack a beer with us. When it was our turn to get married, it wasn’t even up for discussion, we were both so excited to ask Luke to capture our special day.”

The couple chose a classic with a modern cover for their first dance, the bride remembering “We danced to the song Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley as covered by Ingrid Michaelson.”
