Hannah & Sam
Bright days of sunshine are always the most beautiful days when it comes to weddings and the modern Perth cocktail party of Hannah and Sam is filled to the brim with the sunshine, laughter and those feel good vibes. The couple chose Angela Higgins to photograph their wedding day. Having met through mutual friends, Hannah and Sam wanted to create a relaxed vibe day for their guests – from an outdoor ceremony to a cocktail party reception, well I think they got their wish!
The bride chose a modern style gown by Ae’lkemi, telling “My dress was custom made and designed by Alvin from Ae’lkemi. I asked for a sheer top and bottom with a little beading here and there, so we chose two lace fabrics to run with. Right before my third appointment he called me to say he’d found the perfect beaded and sheer lace fabric in some samples that were just delivered to give me the modern art deco look I was going for, we decided to use the new fabric for the entire dress – it ended up being totally different to the first design but I don’t think it would be possible to love that dress more than I did!”
The ceremony venue chosen was The Coombe Reserve, Hannah remarking “Our brother in law used to sail and he took us to The Coombe with the kids, the New Years Eve before we were engaged. When we chose a wedding venue we wanted close to home, no other location was even considered!”
Hannah walked down the aisle to “How Will I Know” by Sam Smith.
Debbie Neilsen officiated the ceremony, Hannah remembering “We wanted our ceremony to be relaxed, relevant and funny. We wrote our own vows which included me teasing Sam’s long showers and him promising to do his best to make me happy forever. We had Sam’s daughter do a reading from a children’s book The Velveteen Rabbit, it describes how love makes you whole and stays with you forever.”
Post wedding celebrations were filled with icecream, Hannah explaining “Everyone knows I love ice cream and I hate being hungry at weddings. He came down the street playing his wonderful tune right after we were declared Mr and Mrs, the timing couldn’t have been better!”
Of their choice of photographer, Hannah remarks “Ange was amazing, she calmed me down so much and really made me relax – a true professional and absolutely wonderful person.”
Guests celebrated with the couple with a cocktail reception at The Flour Factory. Twigged By Tali styling lush floral arrangements for the day.
The couple chose an old favourite – Wonderwall by Oasis for their first dance. “We’re both tall so not overly coordinated – it had to be easy!”
Congratulations Hannah and Sam! Thank you for sharing your wedding day stories with us! Thank you also to Angela Higgins for sharing today’s celebration!
