Harriet & James
If classic glamour is for you, then I know, hand on heart that today’s beautifully elegant Brisbane hotel wedding will take your breath away. Every detail was beautifully curated to the style of the day – from the bride’s beaded gown, the champagne tower to the intimate moments captured by Stewart Ross. This is a celebration worthy of nothing less than a glass of your favourite bubbles.
The groom fills us in on how the happy couple came to meet. “We met at the Port Office Hotel eight years ago whilst celebrating with friends. We struggled to convince Harriet that both my friend and I were named ‘James.’”
The bride wore a delicately beaded long sleeve chiffon gown created by Darb Bridal Couture.
Harriet and James chose St Stephens Cathedral for their ceremony.
The bride walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon In D.
Of their ceremony, Harriet and James note “The ceremony was kept relatively traditional, with readings selected by us to reflect our values of commitment, love, and humour.”
Of their photographer, Harriet and James rave “Stewart Ross was fantastic. From our first meeting, we knew he was our guy as he understood what we were looking for with regards to capturing the special day.”
A formal reception followed the ceremony at the majestic Stamford Plaza, the couple working with white+white weddings and events who planned and styled the stunning decor and details of the day.
Each guest received a handmade favor, Harriet and James explaining “We made strawberry and vanilla jam for all of their guests to take home. We become masters in managing a ‘production line’ and learnt how to tie bows so that they sat ‘just right.’ We have to thank Laura Towers, Maid of Honour, for her expert advice in this area.”
Guests were welcomed by the site of a grand tree, from it, guests names hung on cards, directing them to their seat.
“We both love champagne, so a special effort was made to create a champagne tower to celebrate our arrival at the wedding reception.”
Of their first dance, the newlyweds remember “We decided to choreograph our first dance to Regina Spektor’s cover of John Lennon’s “Real Love”. In the weeks leading up to the big day, we took lessons from the fantastic and very patient Rebecca from Orchard’s Dance Studio in Fortitude Valley.”
Matt Barwick Films worked with Harriet and James to capture this stunning film of their day, the couple noting “Matt was able to capture our day in a way we never imagined. The video cuts we viewed after the wedding day instantly brought the feelings experienced on the day itself.”
Congratulations Harriet and James! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Stewart Ross and white+white weddings and events for sharing this Brisbane wedding with us!
