Brigid & Troy
Troy and I met four and a half years ago. We were set up by mutual friends. From that night on we were inseparable and became best friends, before making it official a month later. Last year we built our beautiful house in Torquay which we love! We got engaged on Christmas morning 2014. We had around 14 months to plan the wedding. I absolutely loved the planning process! It was a team effort and I could not have done it without Troy.
Our day was so perfect and everything we could have asked for. Our inspiration and style was elegant, classic and timeless. Although I was the main one organising the wedding, Troy was amazing along the way, checking in with things as we went; he even came up with the idea for our scotch bar! It was definitely a team effort.
I started my big day at the RACV Resort and Troy was at our house in Torquay with the boys.
My day was very laid back with my bridesmaids, mum and nieces. Although I like to think I was pretty calm, but as the time got closer to leave I felt the nerves and hot flushes creeping in big time! A few champagnes helped that!
My amazing bridesmaids looked after me all day and were the best support. It is so important to choose the right people to have around you on your special day. The team from Blondie Hair & Cosmetica came in for most of the day and did their thing! I loved all of the hair and makeup! They did an amazing job.
We were going for the classic and timeless theme – not only with the styling of our wedding but for my dress and the boys suits also. I desperately wanted a particular cream/white French Guipure lace gown which I could not find in any store. Amaline Vitale was where I found my dream dress! I absolutely LOVED my dress and the team at Amaline Vitale were sensational. The dress was so well made and fitted me like a glove. The lace was beautiful and it had a low V back and a big long train! I pretty much tried on every style of dress you could think of and surprisingly in the end, chose the style I had in my head from the beginning!
The boys’ black suits, shirts, shoes and bow ties were all from Roger David. Troy also wore timber cuff links from Peggy and Finn which were gorgeous. I wore my Charles Rose engagement ring and a beautiful Tiffany & Co ring and pearl earrings which were a gift from my bridesmaids. The beautiful ring was a purple stone with diamonds – “something borrowed” from my sister.
The bridesmaids’ dresses were by Camilla and Marc. They really suited each girl beautifully (even my pregnant BM!) and the colour was amazing! We were really lucky to find five dresses that suited them all! The really tied in well with everything. The flower girls wore hand made dresses by my mum and hand made flower crowns with white roses by She’s a Wildflower. The page boys wore Ralph Lauren shirts, bow ties and matching cream shorts. So cute!
Our ceremony which was held at the St. Therese church in Torquay; a modern day church yet a very classic and old fashioned, beautiful ceremony. All of our six nieces and nephews (ranging from six months old to 14 years old) walked down the aisle to “One Thousand Years” instrumental version. It was most definitely a tear jerker! A very sweet start to our day. By far my favourite part of the day was seeing Troy standing at the altar.
After our ceremony, we went down to our local beach and had some further shots taken of us and the bridal party. Jemima from Smitten Photography was so amazing to work with and did such a fantastic job with our photos; she even found some other amazing little spots to get some shots.
With the help of Shannon from Peppa and Peach, LOVE Light Letters and Kylie, Libby and their team at the RACV, we transformed the amazing ball room. The ball room is floor to ceiling glass windows looking over a lush green golf course and the ocean with a large balcony, as well as a beautiful timber roof and large timber dance floor.
The service and food was impeccable. We had an hour of canapés which included oysters, scallops, panko crumbed prawns, lamb loin, hot pork buns, chicken lolly pops (all delicious!) We then had an entrée of pork belly or butternut squash tortellini, eye fillet or salmon for main course and our chocolate mud cake, made by the amazing Dylan Garnham-Rae, served as dessert.
Peppa and Peach created beautiful features in the room including, festoon lighting on the balcony over giant white LOVE letters, a scotch bar with mixers which was draped in beautiful fruits and greenery and white flowers, a sweets table featuring marble, timber and gold platters and candle holders as well as marble and gold candle holders on the tables and gift table.
The Love Light Letter girls used giant white LOVE letters on the huge balcony which were placed in front of the breath taking views and blue sky. They were glowing all night with the festoon lighting hanging over them. They also set up an illuminated B & T on our gift table which looked spectacular.
Our florist, Smellies, created beautiful vibrant green centrepieces including green monstera leaves and pepper corn fern, with smaller vases around them including white roses, hydrangeas and lisianthus. They also created a beautiful green hanging arrangement which hung over the bridal table. The room really popped with the beautiful bright greenery, it looked amazing! We also had hand made concrete candles made by Tom from Innovative Concrete Designs and cookies by Mad About Cakes as wedding favours.
Ms Chinoiserie Says: Congratulations Brigid and Troy; your attention to detail with your elegant theme was so beautiful!
