Georgia & Mick
There is a sense of enchanted dreaminess about Georgia and Mick’s outdoor Macedon Ranges wedding. Sweet handmade details make up the romance of the day – love hearts and handmade tassels made by family and friends to decorate the beautiful gardens. Georgia and Mick chose Madeleine Chiller to capture their day in stills.
Georgia kicks us off with the story of how she and Mick came to be. “We met in high school and fell out of touch when I moved to a new school. We then met up again while I was studying my VCE and have been together ever since!”
Georgia wore a Rue De Seine gown from The Bridal Atelier noting, “I saw the Rue De Seine Chloe dress in a wedding magazine and knew it was the one! A beautiful store in Armadale named the Bridal Atelier were holding a trunk show with their amazing dresses and I had to go! It was the first dress I tried on and the only store I went to! The shop girls were all so lovely and my bridesmaids and I fell in love with the dress instantly! It made no sense to look any further!”
Georgia worked with So Many Loves who styled the floral arrangements for the day and worked with the bride to create the laid back style the couple had dreamt of.
The couple chose a private home for their wedding, noting, “We always knew we wanted to get married in the country and Macedon seemed fitting as we both grew up in the Macedon ranges. There are so many amazing open and private gardens up on the mount and a family friend offered their stunning garden to us for our reception! There were almost too many stunning spots on the property to choose from so after the ceremony was spent wandering around getting photos in front of the 100+-year-old trees, several ponds and backdrops! It was nice to have so many options for the ceremony too!”
One of the bride’s favourite moments was arriving at the ceremony, she remembers. “I loved getting driven by my Dad to the ceremony in his 1957 Chevrolet station wagon that he has been doing up for the last 20+ years! This car has been his pride and joy and also his hobby on the side. I have three older brothers and sisters who had been promised to go to debutante balls, graduations, weddings in the Chev but it was never completed in time! Finally, for his youngest (and favourite child) it was ready! It made it that extra special!”
Georgia walked down the aisle to “Pete Dempsy’s version of INXS “Never tear us apart” it always has given me goosebumps and does even more so now!”
Eric Anderson officiated the ceremony, the bride noting, “We wanted a really laid back feeling to our ceremony, nothing overly formal. We had two close friends do readings which they chose and added a bit more a personal touch. Our wedding celebrant is an old family friend who works in the Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade with my Dad. Knowing the celebrant marrying us was extra special for us as well as my family.”
“Landscaping the garden at Mick’s family’s property was lots of fun in the lead up to the wedding because it really brought together our friends and family and everyone was happy to lend a helping hand. It made it all the more exciting catching up with everyone each weekend and hanging out in the sun.”
Of their photographer, Georgia tells “We chose Madeline Chiller to take our photos on our day which was amazing because we are close friends and she knew exactly what look we wanted to achieve and she really knew how to make the most out of the beautiful surroundings of the Macedon Ranges. She also had so many great ideas which really helped us bounce creative ideas off each other.”
Of the first dance, Georgia remembers, “Our first dance was to “Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” The lyrics are just too beautiful.”
“One of our groomsmen is well known at weddings and parties for his hilarious speeches. He prides himself on them and knows he always gets the laughs. As usual he delivered a lovely and funny wedding toast which had everyone cheering. My Dad isn’t much of a public speaker so on the day handballed the honour of a speech to my older brother.
With very little time to prepare, he typed a very last minute and funny speech into his iPhone. He had everyone in stitches to the shock of our groomsman who felt totally defeated. We laughed about it on the day and then when we got the professional photos back laughed even harder when seeing the look of shock on his face for being outdone last minute.”
“Our theme was colourful and creative with a real sense of DIY. All up it took us a ridiculous amount of hours between about 10 girls to make around 1000 tassels for our 150 metre length tassel garland which we hung from the marquee ceiling. I hand made our gum leaf chandeliers in the days leading up to the wedding day which left the house smelling amazing!!”
Ken’s Catering Broadford served up a feast for guests, the bride remarking, “Our caterers were just perfect! I am a super fussy eater and they made sure they had a huge range of canapés to suit everyone! They had some great vegetarian options as well as some amazing mini burger sliders which the boys really enjoyed!”
